What if Brook ALREADY has Conqueror’s Haki?? One Piece Chapter 1185 Full Spoilers!
With a traumatic incident involving the Holy Knights of God, his deceased King and a beloved princess turned murderer, will Brook awaken some form of Haki from this?
In the previous One Piece chapter, we got a look into Brook’s childhood, how Rueven and Candelle saved him from corrupt Marines and gave him a new home and life.
One Piece Chapter 1185 is titled, “Y’all Better Buzz Off”
This chapter has 17 pages.
The cover page features Boa Hancock learning how to cook for Luffy.
Candelle Teaches Brook
The chapter begins with Prince Rueven ordering Candelle to take in Brook as her retainer, with strict orders to teach him proper manners and etiquette.
This would be a problem as while carrying a sword around his whole height, Brook is mesmerized by the beautiful women around the royal palace, causing him to sing.
He sees four women and one of them was, well…big, and Brook literally said “skip that one” while complimenting the other three women and ending up asking one of the women to show her panties.
Candelle, the cool beauty, breaks composure in front of Brook for being too noisy.
Later, Candelle asks if Brook dislikes the uniform he is wearing.
Brook worries that if he got used to the rigid school system, he will not be able to make good music yet he does want to wear the Battle Convoy’s uniform.
Brook would spend his time in school but enjoy training with Candelle and making music.
While training, Brook asks if there was someone Candelle liked, with Candelle blushing as she feels that he is beyond her reach and that she only trained with the sword to be close to him.
This is in reference to the Prince Rueven.
Now Brook attempts to ask if it was him and if Candelle wears men’s underwear since she wears more masculine clothing, and she remarks that his language has not improved at all, so she punches him in the head, saying that strength and politeness go hand in hand.
Rueven is NOT the Father
We go back to the present, where Brook finishes off his childhood backstory and talks about how Candelle was the “Sun of the Kingdom”.
There was one low point, when a Celestial Dragon visited, causing a panic and it led to Candelle being sick for several months.
Then, the unruly Prince Rueven would be crowned King and much later, Esperia celebrated the marriage between the King and the beloved Battle Convoy Captain Candelle.
Now that sounds fishy though.
Candelle got sick when she made contact with the Celestial Dragon.
Furthermore, we may not know Candelle or Rueven’s surnames, which means the Celestial Dragon who came to Esperia was a Manmeyer and impregnated Candelle, hence her sickness.
Similar to the previous flashback arc in Elbaph when Garling impregnated a woman on God Valley while on a mission.
But what if this was part of the mission too?
This means Holy Knights were sent to Kingdoms that either had high value resources (God Valley) or were dissenting (Esperia).
In this case, perhaps we are seeing the logic behind Shamrock and the Manmeyer producing the Figarland twins and Gunko respectively: strong Lineage Factor.
Like Big Mom, the Holy Knights have their own form of eugenics.
This also explains why the story so far keeps emphasizing that Shuri calls Rueven her father, not just daddy, a subtle hint she is not in fact his biological daughter.
Oda Shortening the Brook Flashback?
Hey at least no one is stuck in a flashback campfire for more than the allotted “3 minutes” they promised like the longest flashback arc ever, the 19-chapter long Elbaph Arc flashback from Chapter 1152: “A Horrible Day” to Chapter 1171: “Ragnir”.
It is a shame we skimmed over the rest of Brook’s years, a full decade of content, but some of the stuff, like Rueven’s coronation and a concert or even Shuri’s birth, are fine anyway, so in the end it feels like the pace is fair enough.
We could have gotten at least one chapter but this was probably done so that the contents of Volume 116 (probably Chapter 1178: “Furious” to Chapter 1188) would fit together, meaning we could see another 3 chapters with the conclusion of Esperia’s fate.
The King and Queen watch Brook and Shuri bond during their training, with Brook even carrying Shuri on his shoulders even though Shuri is much bigger.
Brooks shares a share for when Shuri wants to be independent from her parents
“Y’all Better Buzz Off”, the chapter title, is actually Kansai dialect term “Hottokinahare”.
Shuri is surprised by the language and Brook explains that it is actually a dialect from a country in the West Blue called “Kamigata”, which is an old term for the Kyoto–Osaka (Kansai) region in Japan and thus the dialect is more expressive, as shown with the song.
Y’all Better Buzz Off~🎵
We ain’t pups bought off with treats🎵
We ain’t kids turned around by sweets🎵
We see Brook covering Shuri (who is in her lighter, more casual outfit instead of the military one) with an umbrella while she was tending to a cat and Brook checking Shuri’s height.
We also see Shuri get mad when Brook flirts with another woman and Shuri in turn scaring Brook off with a skull doll.
Brook still comes back to his junkyard home and brings Shuri there to fish.
Shuri tries to cook a meal for Brook, who got injured at one point, and dreams of Brook eating her cooking.
It ends with Shuri embracing Brook.
Will Gunko Join the Straw Hats?
A year later, Shuri turns 15 and we see the Kingdom of Esperia covered in a mysterious fog that is causing the instruments to rust, including Brook’s violin.
The fog could be natural but given how sudden it was, being unlike the (which, then again, was a consequence of the rising sea levels from the World Government’s many genocides).
Candelle was one of its early victims, having died from the fog, leading to much grief not only from the whole Kingdom but especially Shuri and Rueven, who loved her dearly.
We finally have the scene from Chapter 1149 here, where Brook brings up his dream of being a pirate.
It was on a rainy day as the kingdom was still covered in fog.
Brook notes Shuri fights as if she can see into the future.
Did she already develop Observation Haki?
Shuri brings up how she has the aptitude to fight in the front lines but her father would be worried, especially with the passing of her mother Candelle.
Now Shuri brings up the question, of Brook’s dream of becoming a pirate but Brook says that he still has a duty due to his gratitude to Rueven.
Shuri also wants to be a pirate but Brook refuses to let her join.
Wait, is a 77-year old teenager joining the Straw Hats??
This cuts immediately to King Rueven declaring war on the World Government.
And Brook immediately obeys.
All the while everyone from the Battle Convoy panic.
This is for the World Government demanding a thousand slaves from Esperia as compensation for being unable to pay the Heavenly Tribute this year.
Rueven refuses because he knows slavery in the Holy Land equals death.
In two months’, the World Government’s ships will arrive to claim the people.
Brook worries about the possibility of Esperia vanishing from the West Blue map, implying that this has already happened before in this sea and Brook was aware of the whispers.
The World Government has been erasing islands for 800 years and kept most of the world unaware and only those whose fates will be similar become aware of it.
Now the Convoy and ordinary citizens panic.
Trying to lift the heavy despair, Brook began to sing a defiant tune but all tied to his dream to become a pirate and seek adventure: the land of Samurai (Wano) and Giants (Elbaph), places in the harsh Grand Line.
We Meet Gunko’s Real Father
But then this shifts to “Y’all Better Buzz Off~” being turned into a desperate tune as the attack from the World Government has begun and Brook is determined not to go out easy.
We see a flashback of Rueven and Shuri are arguing as Shuri wants to fight for her homeland but Rueven refuses to endanger his heir.
The Marines are shocked by Brook’s skill, using Yahazugiri to take them down.
However, Brook also sees the junkyard he once played in also burning along with the rest of the Kingdom.
As he reaches the Palace, Brook witnesses a terrifying sight, his benefactor and adopted brother King Rueven dead, by the feet of the Princess Shuri.
In front of her was the shadowed form of one of the Five Elders, St. Marcus Mars’ yokai form and sitting by some stairs was a Holy Knight wearing the uniform with an officer cap.
At first, he looks like Shiryu, with the cap and cigar and coincidentally, the chapter will be released close to Shiryu’s birthday, June 11.
However, it is likely this man is Shuri’s biological father, the Celestial Dragon who impregnated Candelle.
The possessed Shuri then tells Brook if he is happy now that the war is over with the death of the King.
Marcus Mars Created Thriller Bark?
Why was Mars chosen for this particular genocide?
Perhaps it has to do with the method: a fog that kills thousands.
According to the Taiheiki, around the fall of 1334, an epidemic illness was causing many deaths and almost every night, so meaning that the itsumade bird is capable of spreading disease.
This sorta makes Marcus Mars a Horseman of the Apocalypse, riding Pestilence.
And perhaps that still stays.
End Note: “What on earth happened in the palace?!”
One Piece will be on BREAK NEXT WEEK.
