THE 29TH WIZARD KING IS ASTA! Did Black Clover Get the Ending It Deserved? Black Clover FINAL Chapters 390 to 392 Spoilers!

In the previous Black Clover chapters, Lucius is finally defeated by Asta and Yuno and Julius sacrifices his life to save those who died during the Last Judgment.

This batch has a total of 61 pages, including a colored spread featuring the whole Black Clover cast.

This is officially the end of the Black Clover series, which has been going on since February 16, 2015, a total of 11 years and one of the last big series of the 2010s era to end.

The Real Final Battle

Chapter 390 is titled, “Battle of Contrasts”

This chapter has 17 pages.

The chapter takes place half a year after Julius’ death and the defeat of the Last Judgment of his evil twin Lucius Zogratis, which means the Clover Kingdom was six months without its commander-in-chief.

Way to go, useless King Augustus Kira Clover XIII.

But the whole Clover Kingdom is excited because now is the time to decide who will be the 29th Wizard King.

And it is tied between Asta, the Black Bulls member, Devil-Possessed and hero of the Last Judgment, and Yuno Grinberryall, the Captain of the Golden Dawn and fellow hero of the Kingdom.

The crowd is split on who would be the Wizard King, with each side suggesting that their peace would not have been possible without Yuno’s overwhelming power or Asta’s Anti-Magic.

Some were also inspired by Asta’s words.

Now I wonder if that means there will be less to no discrimination against people with little magic.

Why is there a match for the Wizard King

Even the Magic Knight captains cannot agree on a recommendation.

Yami and Vangeance are also fighting over which of their students to back.

The crowd agrees with the proposal, that whoever wins the match becomes Wizard King and there would be no complaints.

It is also noted that either way, the winner will be the youngest Wizard King in history.

Both Asta and Yuno are 19 years old.

They have been Magic Knights for 4 years, having made their promise to be Wizard King at aged 15 in Chapter 1.

This is 4 years in the story but 11 years for us fans.

The time has come.

Asta and Yuno take their positions on opposite sides of quite a vast battlefield within the arena.

By the way, something to mention is that this is the same arena from the movie, Sword of the Wizard King.

And so it begins!

The battle begins with Yuno launching a whirlwind that Asta easily blocks but he slips through

Yuno opens with overwhelming star magic, and Asta charges through the storm using his anti-magic and ki sensing. Yuno teleports between his stars, attacking from every angle simultaneously. Asta unleashes massive anti-magic slashes. Yuno responds with concentrated ultra-high-density spirit magic, his blade somehow holding firm against anti-magic itself. Yuno hovers above in his Spirit Dive form, launching a final devastating volley of star spears down through the clouds. Asta takes the hit head-on, vanishing into a massive crater of dust and debris. Then Asta erupts from the smoke, bloodied, his sword in one hand, eyes blazing with absolute resolve. He charges forward through the falling rubble.

A King Will Be Crowned

Black Clover Chapter 391 is titled, “The Long-Awaited Conclusion”

This chapter has 21 pages.

The fierce battle continues. Asta and Yuno’s blades crash together again and again with sparks flying, watching from the audience, the spectators baffled. “Why is Yuno able to clash blades with anti-magic?” Yuno’s sword should be made of pure magic — they theorize that Yuno must be channeling such ultra-high-density mana into his blade that Asta’s nullification can’t keep up. Yuno channels Spirit Dive, his Soaring Through the Sky Rain Star shining down a massive constellation of star-shaped projectiles, weaving between them via interstellar teleportation while launching attacks of his own. The arena is reduced to a meteor field of explosions.

The captains watching are amazed.
“Even for Yuno — just how much magic power does he have…?!”
“…I continuously fling stars, teleporting between them, and attacking…!”

“A normal mage fights by using magic to enhance their body. With just his bare muscles, just how far can Asta keep moving…?”
“Will Yuno’s mana run out first — or will Asta’s body break first?”

Asta strikes back, but Yuno adapts instantly. He weaponizes the environment itself, using wind to hurl massive boulders and physical debris at Asta, exploiting anti-magic’s one critical weakness: it can’t nullify physical objects. A massive boulder crashes down on Asta.

Then, there’s a “Not yet!!” scream coming from the rubble.

Asta erupts from the broken stone. He shatters the boulder field in a single punch using his fist.
“Yami: He smashed through the rocks with his Zetten…”

Yuno responds with Spirit of Notos.

Asta meets it head-on and punches Yuno. It is remarked that Yuno should’ve run out of mana by now, but since he is loved by mana, those rules don’t apply to him.

Yuno charges at Asta, and Asta calls for his Demon Slayer for the final clash. When the dust settles, Asta stands, and Yuno acknowledges Asta’s win. Asta says he was only able to keep chasing his dream because Yuno was there.

The Final Page, A Promised Fulfilled

Black Clover Chapter 392 is titled, “The Final Page”

This chapter has 22 pages.

Two years have passed.

The page opens on a wide, peaceful shot of Hage Village. Visitors gather around the church where Asta and Yuno grew up, as Father Orsi proudly gives them a tour.

“This is where the two heroes who fought in the Wizard King Decision Match were raised, you see… And right here, in front of the legendary demon’s bones, the two of them used to compete with each other ever since they were little kids!”

Orsi is also promoting Hage’s potatoes.

The scene shifts to the Magic Knights Entrance Exam.

Sister Lily sees Nash off as he heads to the colosseum to take the very same exam Asta and Yuno once took.

The chapter then sweeps through what happened to the characters:

Gauche & Grey: Marie, now a young woman, is also taking the exam, leading to Gauche’s complete sister-complex meltdown. She tells him he inspired her by being so cool, then says, “No one but Grey-san is going to fall for a siscon like you, big brother — don’t you dare let her get away!”

Finral & Finesse: Finesse is pregnant. Finral is in tears of joy that he beat his perfectionist younger brother Langris to fatherhood. Even Langris has to grudgingly admit: “To think that guy would become a parent before me…”

Charlotte & Yami (First flashback): At a port, Ichika is being seen off by Yami and a flustered Charlotte with a grinning Asta. Yami and Charlotte are dating at this point. Yami casually says, “Oh, and I won’t be working under you. I’m retiring as captain. I’ll just take a normal job and work as a regular Magic Knight.”

The current Asta has been wearing out to be a magical translator for Ichika. Ichika invites Charlotte to visit and calls her “sister-in-law,” then Charlotte immediately panics, “W-We’re still just dating!” Yami calmly replies, “I’ve got my sights set on the future, though?”

When the flashback is over, it seems Charlotte and Yami are already married.

Black Bulls: Vanessa bursts into Nacht’s office, who’s the captain now, to remind him that the Entrance Exam is starting. While Vanessa is completely drunk, Magna and Luck are fighting, Zora thanks them for testing his new trap magic, and Henry and Gordon are playing cards.

Rill & Charmy: Rill is now a doting father to a huge fluffy family alongside Charmy, surrounded by their children. The loyal butler is moved to tears watching Rill grown up. Charmy, smug as ever, philosophizes: “Rather than the love you chase, it’s the love that chases you, isn’t it?” She heads off cheerfully to handle the exam.

Lolopechka and Gadjah have officially married. Mereoleona is reportedly being courted in Hino (Yosuga hinted?).

Noelle and Mimosa face off in their romantic battle for Asta:
Noelle: “Our battle starts from here on, Mimosa…!”
Mimosa: “I won’t lose, Noelle-san…!”

The two head off to lunch.

Secre watches quietly from a rooftop. “Lumiere-sama… the Clover Kingdom is at peace today, as well… After centuries of waiting and watching, Lumiere’s dream has finally been fulfilled.”

A sweeping montage of more characters: Fuegoleon & Leo on a mission, Jack (who isn’t dead btw) with Sekke on a mission, Damnatio, Sally & researchers, Mereoleona sparring with Yosuga in Hino, Dorothy flying in the Witches’ Forest, Loro & Gaja’s wedding, William visiting the Party, Spade Kingdom.

Back in the Clover Kingdom:

Yuno has just returned from Spade. Klaus apologizes for calling him in immediately, but says it’s important to work as a captain, and they need to go for the entrance exam.

The Magic Knights Entrance Exam officially begins. But before the candidates can take a single step, there’s an enemy attack and a massive impact rocks the colosseum.

In the sky above the royal capital, a mysterious airship appears.

Yami, with Adramelech on his shoulders, grins and announces: “Special Free Squad — moving out~.” However, Asta has suddenly appeared.

The unknown attackers descend.
“What’s with this little squirt?” “He’s got no magic power at all!”
“What are you—?”

The final page: Asta stands tall, gripping his sword.

“I am… the Wizard King!!”

The final volume will be released on August 4, 2026.
