One of Japan’s biggest Animation Companies, Toei Animation, announced on April 24, 2023 that a brand new original anime project titled “Girls Band Cry” is currently in works! We received a first look of the anime through an officially released key visual!

The tagline of the key visual translates as “Throw out your anger, joy, sadness — throw all of it away.” More information about the anime, along with an animated music video, will be unveiled on May 29, 2023.

While the news was received positively by Japanese fans and Toei fans in general, Dragon Ball fans feel betrayed because they feel Toei doesn’t pay enough attention to the IP that it deserves. Dragon Ball Super anime has been on hiatus for 5 years and the fandom is on pins and needles, waiting desperately for new canon animated content.

Toei Animation Co., Ltd. is a Japanese animation studio that is principally owned by the Toei Company. Sally the Witch, GeGeGe no Kitar, Mazinger Z, Galaxy Express 999, Cutie Honey, Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon, Slam Dunk, Digimon, One Piece, Toriko, World Trigger, The Transformers (between 1984 and 1990, including several Japanese exclusive productions), and the Pretty Cure series are just a few of the series it has produced.
