These 2023 Anime Are Getting Delayed Due To COVID-19 [UPDATED LIST]
Nine animes have faced delays so far
The resurgence of covid in Japan and around the world has affected many businesses, including the entertainment industry. Even though 2023 has just begun, we already have numerous cancellations!
In this article, we’ve made a comprehensive list of all anime, events, and appearances that were delayed/canceled in 2023 due to Covid-19 in chronological order so far!
Anime Cancellations:
February 20: Technoroid OVERMIND TV Anime Postpones Episode 8 Broadcast
On February 20, the official websites and accounts for the Technoroid OVERMIND anime announced that episode 8 of the anime has been postponed.
The episode was originally set to air on February 22. Now, it is scheduled for March 1, 2023, due to COVID-19.
February 17: Megaton Musashi Season 2 Delays Last 2 Episodes Further
The official website for Level 5‘s Megaton-kyū Musashi multimedia project announced on Friday that it is delaying the final two episodes of the second season again.
Episode 27 has been delayed from February 24 to March 10, and episode 28 has been delayed from March 3 to March 17.
Episodes 25 and 26 will instead air on February 24 and March 3, respectively.
The anime staff had previously delayed episode 18 from November 4 to November 18, 2022, to improve the episode’s quality.
February 17: Black Clover: Sword Of The Wizard King Movie
On February 17, the official website and accounts for Black Clover announced that the upcoming movie, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King will be postponed due to Covid-19.
The movie’s premiere date is now June 16, instead of March 31.
They also confirmed that the simultaneous release on Netflix and in Japanese theatres, as announced before.

February 16: Spy Classroom Anime Delays Eighth Episode
On February 16th, it was announced that Spy Classroom will have its eighth episode delayed due to Covid-19.

Originally scheduled to air on February 23, the episode will now air on March 2.
February 16: Masamune Kun’s Revenge R Anime Postponed By 3 Months
On February 16th, the official website for Masamune Kun’s Revenge R anime announced that the TV anime’s second season’s premiere will be delayed by 3 months due to Covid-19.
Originally set to premiere in April, it will now release in July of 2023.
February 13: Bofuri Season 2 Episode 7 Delayed
On February 13, BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense announced that episode 7 of the anime has been delayed due to Covid-19.
The episode has been delayed for two weeks, and will release on March 8, 2023, now.
The broadcast of episodes 11 and 12 is currently undetermined as well.
February 09: Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence Anime Delayed to June
On February 09, the official website for the television anime for Hazano Kazutake‘s Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence (Shiro Seijo to Kuro Bokushi) manga revealed on Friday that the staff has delayed the anime to July due to the effects of COVID-19 on the anime’s production.
The anime was originally set to premiere in April.
January 24: Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible Anime Postpones Episode 7
On January 24, the official website for Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible announced that episode 7 of the anime and the season onward will be delayed due to Covid-19.
The season will restart from Episode 1 in April 20233 for the spring season.
January 24: Ayakashi Triangle TV Anime Delayed From Episode Five And Ownward
On January 24, the official website for the Ayakashi Triangle manga announced that the anime’s fifth episode and beyond will be delayed due to Covid-19.
The anime will begin re-running the first to the fourth episode on February 6. The release date for episode 5 will be announced in the near future.
January 22: UniteUp! Anime Delays Fourth Episode:
On January 22, the production team for UniteUp! anime announced that the fourth episode of the anime, originally scheduled for January 28 will be delayed due to production issues.
They sighted COVID-19 as the reason for production issues. The anime was delayed till February 11.
January 21: NieR: Automata Ver1.1a Anime Postponed from Episode 4
On January 21, The official Twitter account for NieR: Automata Ver1.1 announced that the anime will be delayed indefinitely from episode four.

The anime was then announced to make a return on February 18th.
