Oricon Japan officially posted the list of Blu-ray & DVD sales from March 25 to March 31, 2024, and Solo Leveling ain’t even there, despite having a successful run on TV and streaming platforms.

The lowest in that list, Mashle: Divine Visionary Selection Exam Arc Vol. 1, at #20 sold only 634 units in its first week, which means that Solo Leveling Vol. 1, which came out on Mar 27, sold even fewer units than 634.

On the other hand, “Girls Und Panzer Final Chapter” Vol. 4 topped the list, with 32,614 copies sold, “Gushing over Magical Girls Vol. 1” with 8,114 copies, followed by “Yohane the Parhelion: Sunshine in the Mirror [Limited Edition] Vol. 7” with 3,380 copies.

However, Solo Leveling’s Blu-ray sales figures came on top of other popular anime, such as Undead Unluck and Shangri-La Frontier.

There are a number of reasons why the numbers are low. Fans could be waiting to get an extensive release when more seasons of Solo Leveling show up or they prefer watching the show on streaming platforms.

Or, there have been hardly any changes between the streaming version and the Blu-ray, like in the case of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Nevertheless, Solo Leveling is getting a season 2 with no confirmation date so far.

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers.

We call these individuals “hunters.”

Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. In this world of tough customers, the low-ranked hunter Jinwoo Sung is known as “the weakest hunter of all mankind.”

One day, Jinwoo gets fatally injured when he runs into high-rank double dungeons hidden within a low-rank dungeon.

Just then, a mysterious quest window appears in front of him. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to accept the quest and starts leveling up… while the others aren’t.
