Jujutsu Kaisen: MAPPA Releases An Upgraded Version Of The Sukuna Vs Mahoraga Fight
Episodes 17–20 of the season will also be screened in Japanese theaters for a week.
MAPPA has released the Blu-ray version of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shibuya Incident Arc, and it has gone viral on the internet.
Particularly the entire fight sequence of Mahoraga vs. Sukuna. During the previous television release, the fight garnered a lot of attention and got praised by the fans; however, many thought the fight scene could have been much better if animators had given it more time.
This is because during the release, many animators working on the anime came forward, sharing their health issues and lack of time, furthermore, the animators stated that the released version was 30% complete, which definitely brought MAPPA under public scrutiny.
However, this is not why the Blu-ray version has gone viral; instead, it is due to the improved quality of the fight.
Significant improvement can be felt on top of the already well-animated fight sequence.
Fans of the series shared their praises with the studio and animators. Many stated that just giving animators a small holiday to rest brought up such improvements in the entire scene.
For those interested, they can buy the Blu-ray on the cdjapan website for a base price of 45 USD. The website also provides international shipping for the Blu-ray.
Furthermore, to promote the release of the Blu-ray, episodes 17–20 of the season will be screened in Japanese theaters for a week starting March 29.

About Jujutsu Kaisen:
Jujutsu Kaisen is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami.
It has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018, with its chapters collected and published in 26 tankōbon volumes as of April 2024.
Studio MAPPA brought the world of JJK into anime by airing 24 episodes of season 1 from October 2020 to March 2021 and a second season that premiered in July 2023. A sequel covering the “Culling Game” arc has been announced.
Crunchyroll describes the overall plot of Jujutsu Kaisen as:
Yuji Itadori is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life.
One day, to save a classmate who has been attacked by curses, he eats the finger of Ryomen Sukuna, taking the curse into his own soul.
From then on, he shares one body with Ryomen Sukuna.
Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Satoru Gojo, Itadori is admitted to Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights the curses… and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a curse to exorcise a curse, a life from which he could never turn back.
