One Piece’s Latest Volume Cover Breaks Norm
The cover for Volume 112 is missing something that nearly every One Piece volume cover has. Could that hint at a pattern?

After the early look and drawing process for One Piece Volume 112 were shown yesterday, we now received the complete cover reveal on June 23, 2025.
As we know, this cover shows Luffy with the New Giant Warrior Pirates and Nico Robin’s old friend, Jaguar D. Saul on the bottom, as Luffy’s outstretched arms form a spiral and his hands are held on each side by Gerd and Hajrudin.
Hajrudin is a prominent figure for the arc due to being a Prince of Elbaph and Loki’s half-brother, although it is also possible that Gerd and even Road would have key roles later in the arc.
The act of holding hands with the Giants could also be crucial to their liberation from Imu’s Demonic Contract in current events, which will be covered in Volume 113.
The timing of a volume ending on 13 with the presence of demons is either coincidental or ominous.
What makes this volume cover stand out is the lack of a map on the background as all of the space is taken up by the Giants.
This has happened before with the cover for Volume 67: “Cool Fight” (Punk Hazard Arc, 2012) ,with a purple background with black diagonal lines replacing any map, Volume 68: “Pirate Alliance” as Caesar Clown’s gas covers the borders of the cover. Volume 69: “SAD” (2013) with a dark background and cog instead of a cap, Volume 81: “Let’s Go See Master Nekomamushi” (Zou Arc, 2016) with a water-like background, Volume 85: “Liar” with a chessboard background (Whole Cake Island Arc, 2017), and Volume 89: “Bad End Musical” (2018) with a background dominated by Katakuri and Luffy’s Haki-infused fists.
Punk Hazard appears to be the arc with the lack of map backgrounds being a consistent motif until Volume 70: “Enter Doflamingo”, where it returns.
This means it has been 7 years since the last time a One Piece volume cover had no map background and there have only been six volumes with that pattern so far.
What pattern could it have?
Titled, “The Harley”, after the iconic Chapter 1138, Volume 112 is confirmed to covers Chapter 1134: “The Owl Library” to Chapter 1144: “A Time For Warriors”
To note, the second half of the One Piece manga, “Final Sea: New World Saga” has officially reached 60 volumes, the same amount as the previous “Sea of Survival: Super Rookies Saga” (Volumes 1-60) after nearly 28 years of publication since July 19, 1997.
