One Piece Volume 114 Reveals The Rocks Pirates Roster

The latest One Piece volume cover gave us the full lineup of the Rocks Pirates, save for two members.

The cover of the latest volume of One Piece features the Rocks Pirates walking down a purple pathway.

This is not the first time the whole group was shown together, as with the cover of Chapter 1169: “My Death Cannot Come Soon Enough”.

They are split into four rows; from bottom-up and left-to-right, they are organized:

  1. Gloriosa, Rocks D. Xebec, and Streusen
  2. Shiki, John, Ochoku, Marlon, and Kyo
  3. Kaidou, Edward Newgate, Charlotte Linlin, Prometheus, and Napoleon
  4. Ganzui and Barbel

The lineup is fairly intentional as in the first line of course is the Captain, Rocks D. Xebec.

Gloriosa and Streusen act as “parental” figures to two individuals, to Boa Hancock, the current Kuja Empress and to Big Mom respectively.

In the second line are four “lost legends”:

Shiki was only introduced as a “secret Yonko” figure that had a non-canon present appearance in One Piece: Strong World.

Captain John was a legendary pirate with a massive treausre that Buggy was looking for, which is confirmed to come from God Valley in Chapter 1163: “Promise”.

Ochoku ruled the Rocks Pirates base of Hachinosu but was usurped by Rocks’ son, Blackbeard.

Marlon and Kyo lost relevance in spite being part of the legendary lineup, with Marlon killing by Ochoku, which sets up the God Valley Incident with Shakky’s kidnapping while Kyo became obscure.

The third lineup of course are three of the Four Emperors of the Sea, the definitive lineup of this group before Shanks joined 6 years ago and before Blackbeard, Luffy and Buggy displaced the entire old generation.

In the uppermost lineup are Ganzui and Barbel, the latter being partly covered by the title, showing how truly forgotten they are due to the events of God Valley.

Notably, a number of members are absent on this cover.

Buckingham Stussy, Gill Bastar, and Big Mom’s other Homie, Zeus were not shown.

Zeus was born 6 years before the God Valley Incident.

Stussy was a freeloader, so in a way it is quite fitting and Gill Bastar is a reference to Wanted, Oda’s first one-shot, who also ended up as one of Moria’s zombies like Ganzui and John.

Titled, “The God Valley Incident” after Chapter 1160, Volume 114 will cover Chapter 1156: “Idols” to Chapter 1166: “New Stories” and have 224 pages, 16 pages more the previous Volume 113.
