On Tuesday, through an Instagram post, One Piece Live Action showrunner Matt Owen shared an interesting interaction between him and the author, Eiichiro Oda.

He shared that during their first meeting, Owen pitched a lot of ideas to Oda. One of them was the fight scene between Zoro and Baroque Works’ Mr. 7.

Matt Owen also mentioned to Oda that in an SBS he had been informed that Zoro was approached by Mr. 7 to get recruited for the Baroque work.

Although the fight between the two was never shown, it was a reference when, during the Alabasta arc, his successor was introduced.

Mr. 7 was never drawn, neither in manga nor in anime. Even Oda himself had forgotten about him as he asked his editor, “Did I say that?”

The next day, Matt showed the only drawing of Mr. 7 that Oda had drawn in the SBS. Oda said that he was impressed by his knowledge about the One Piece world and that he liked the idea.

Matt Owens also shared that he felt like he was carrying the Holy Grail.
