Misty And Jessie’s Voice Actor From Pokemon Diagnosed With Cancer; GoFundMe Campaign Launched!

For those who are reading this, I kindly request that you help Rachael Lillis as much as possible, either by donating or sharing the GoFundMe post!

Anime Explained

Rachael Lillis, who is famous for her roles as Misty and Jessie in Pokemon, has been diagnosed with breast cancer that has spread to her spine, thus leaving her barely able to walk. Her sister Laurie Orr has started a GoFundMe page to help with medical care for her sister and fund for a home care nurse.

Laurie clarifies on the GoFundMe page that Rachael has been residing in a nursing home in Los Angeles since January 2024. However, she can’t stay there for long, as the noise in the nursing home has made it difficult for her to rest properly. What she truly requires is personalized care within her own residence, such as the assistance of a home care nurse who can aid with medication administration, meal preparation, and similar tasks.

The response has been more than what you could expect! As of writing this piece, over 1,800 people have donated to this fund, raising $65,277, which has well-surpassed the $20,000 target!

Over 49 fans who donated have given heartfelt messages, sharing how much the voice actor and Pokemon have meant in their lives.

Laurie comments on the GoFundMe as follows:

“Again, wanted to express our sincere thanks for your kind comments & emails, and your generous donations!
Thank you for your heartfelt support for Rachael!
With Much LOVE! -Laurie, her big sis”

Eric Stuart, Dan Green and Tara Jayne Sands, who are her fellow voice actors for Pokémon, have also shared posts on the GoFundMe campaign, requesting people to donate!
