Luffy’s Thanksgiving Parade Balloon Takes Damage As Straw Hat Deflates; Fans React
It’s funny, considering Luffy’s body is made of rubber, so any small damage he takes ain’t affecting him, even bullets don’t enter his skin.
One Piece fans around the world were thrilled to see a huge Monkey D. Luffy float floating around the skies of New York City, as Luffy made his official debut in the 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, held on Nov 24, 2023, joining Son Goku from the Dragon Ball franchise.
The balloon stands 50 feet tall, with a length of 43 feet, and a width of 39 feet, making Luffy the widest balloon in the Parade. Twenty different hues were used to give life to the Luffy balloon.
However, a slight accident took place, causing Luffy’s hat to defloat. A gust of wind tore the brim off of Luffy’s straw hat during the actual procession, while he was at the beginning of the route. Also, his right hand was about to burst as the balloon rocked against a lamppost.
The remainder of the parade passed without further trouble for the balloon, though.

Maybe this is a foreshadowing of Luffy not able to fulfill the promise he made to Shanks of becoming the King of the Pirates. HOLY SHIT, ODA IS A GOD!
