Kaiju No. 8 Final Season and Second OVA in Production
Kaiju No. 8’s third and final season is now in production months after Season 2 and the manga as a whole had concluded.
On December 20, 2025 at Jump Festa 2026, Kaiju No. 8 reveals the trailer for its final season, titled “The Final Chapter”, which has confirmed to be starting production now.
Alongside the final season, there is another special one-shot episode titled, “Narumi’s Week at Work”.
Season 1 was released in 2024 produced by Production I.G. (Haikyuu, Heavenly Delusion) with monster designs by Studio Khara (Evangelion Rebuild movies) and adapted the first 38 chapters of the story.
Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 was released on July 19, 2025, with 11 episodes adapting up to the start of Chapter 83, meaning the season adapted nearly 45 chapters in total.
This means there are over 47 chapters left to adapt.
Just like “Hoshina’s Day Off”, this will feature another prominent Defense Force officer, this time Captain of Division 1 Gen Narumi on what he actually does at work.
To note, the Hoshina one-shot episode debuted alongside the Season 1 compilation film starting March 28, 2025 and on July 5th worldwide, and it was adapted into a manga chapter by Kentaro Hidano (Kaiju No. 8 – Side B) on September 5th at Shonen Jump+ App.
It is possible the Narumi special will also be remade into a manga chapter after its anime release.
For Jump Festa, the author, Naoya Matsumoto drew Kafka Hibino, in his Kaiju No. 8 form but with the Defense Force uniform on, opening a flask can alongside Reno Ichikawa.

Kaiju No. 8 is a manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto for the Shōnen Jump+ app and website from July 3, 2020 to July 18, 2025.
As of September 4, 2025, the series has reached a total of 16 volumes and has sold over 19 million copies worldwide.
The story follows Kafka Hibino, a 32 year old man who ingested a parasitic creature and gained the ability to turn into a kaiju, eventually joining the Defense Force that opposes the kaiju.
