In an October 18 Japan Times opinion piece, Kanta Ishida cited that Kagurabachi is the future of Jump after the conclusion of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen, two of Jump’s recent heavy hitters that ended this year.
Ishida cites how Kagurabachi gained overseas appeal first due to the story being inspired by 1970s manga “Lone Wolf and Cub”, the origin of “samurai avenger” manga that is said to have influenced even Hollywood.
Kagurabachi also acts as a “skimming” between Naruto and Demon Slayer through its combination of supernatural powers and aesthetically-pleasing swordsmanship.
Kagurabachi tells the story of Chihiro Rokuhira as he hunts down his father’s killers, who are after the man’s six Enchanted Blades that have the power to change the fate of Japan.
Kagurabachi currently has 54 chapters.
