Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 continues to make headlines across social media, from animators complaining about poor working conditions to fan polls ranking the hottest characters, garnering over 34 million responses.

But this time, it’s a sad day for Nanami Kento fans as he bids farewell with a smile by dying at the hands of Mahito in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 18.

Before facing the Special Grade Curse, he had already sustained significant damage from fights with Dagon, and Jogo.

It was actually Jogo’s fault that our boi Nanami’s half-body was burned to a crisp. But he’s unfazed as his best bud Haibara pays a visit from heaven to answer an important question: “Why did I come back to the Jujutsu world? Just to suffer?”

To which, Haibara points at Yuji. Nanami talks to Haibara more, stating that he cannot say something that will become a curse to Yuji, and that it’s not right.

Nanami tells Yuji that he’s got it from here with a bright smile on his face, and gets blasted into smithereens in the very next moment by Mahito.

Nanami died right in front of Yuji, who was heartbroken and enraged. And, Nanami’s death only makes it worse for Yuji as the arc nears its end.

Nanami has always been a fan-favorite character in Jujutsu Kaisen for several reasons, including his turbulent relationship with Gojo, his concern for young sorcerers like Yuji, and his severe but caring demeanor.

While anime viewers must be completely surprised by the events, manga readers are probably still reeling from the emotional impact of losing one of their favorite characters. Nevertheless, everyone is upset about what happened to Nanami and began to mourn for his death.

The anime adaptation only injected more emotional depth and impact through its tear-jerking music and Yuji’s scream at the end of the episode. Fans took to Twitter to express their appreciation of the character to say goodbye to Chad Nanami Kento, the worker who never liked to work.

Nanami’s Voice Actor, Kenjiro Tsuda, thanked his fans and requested that they continue to support the series ahead of the episode where Nanami dies.

In reply, fans thanked the voice actor for his performance and wished he’d come back to Jujutsu Kaisen to play another character, say Higuruma, as some fans suggested.
