Hunter x Hunter is Back on Hiatus!
Almost as suddenly as it returned, Hunter x Hunter is back on hiatus but it may be the shortest one in a decade.
On September 3, 2026, it has been announced that starting on Issue No. 41 of Weekly Shonen Jump, Hunter x Hunter will be on hiatus after the release of Chapter 420: “Encounter”.
Mostly focused on 1st Prince Benjamin’s Special Martial Law, with a slight tangent hinting at Gon and Killua’s comeback after 12 years in real time, this batch ends on a cliffhanger as 4th Prince Tserriednich is on a crossroads over whether to pursue Hisoka or to return to Tier 1 to recharge his Nen Beast.
While the previous hiatus lasted a year and a half after December 2024, we might get a shorter one due to the fast delivery of chapters to Weekly Shonen Jump.
Previously, on September 1st, Togashi sent Chapter 427 to Weekly Shonen Jump
On August 30th, Togashi completed the background specifications for Chapter 430, bringing the final batch’s chapter closer to completion.
As we specified in a previous report, there is often a 5-month gap between background inking and manuscript completion but judging from Togashi’s current pace, he might be able to send Chapter 430 by October and by December, an announcement will be made for an early 2027 batch.
