After learning that Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, a.k.a. Budokai Tenkaichi 4, had been in development for 5 years, fans quickly came to the conclusion that Xenoverse 2 was releasing DLC after DLC all these years just to let the top dogs in Bandai work on the next installment of the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi franchise.

Xenoverse 2 was released in 2016 and should have been done and dusted in 2018, but Bandai was like, “Naah, BT4 would take 5 years. Hold the fort for me.

It’s common knowledge amongst Dragon Ball game fans that Xenoverse 2 was that game that never got a sequel, and wondered for so long why that wasn’t the case. As a result, they constantly made fun of that game, calling it the “infinite cash cow milker” of the games.

But that all changed when an interview with a certain game developer dropped the bomb that made Sparking! Zero was the main focus of Bandai all along. This made fans hilariously think that Xenoverse 2 walked so that Sparking! Zero could run.

In other words, Xenoverse 2 DLCs were laying the red carpet for Sparking! Zero to make its epic entrance. And for those reasons, fans on Twitter had begun apologizing to the GOAT Xenoverse 2—the necessary sacrifice in order to make one of the biggest comebacks in gaming history a reality.

About Dragon Ball:

Dragon Ball is a manga series by Akira Toriyama. It first began its serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1984.

The manga was later adapted into a multitude of animated series, movies, and games.

The franchise consists of five different anime series, about 21 animated movies, and around 10 games spanning various platforms, from Famicon to Playstation and Xbox.

Synopsis of the Dragon Ball anime:

The story of Dragon Ball follows the life of Son Goku, a monkey-tailed boy loosely based on the traditional Chinese folk tale Journey to the West, from his life and adventures as a child all the way up to being a grandfather.

During his life, he fights many battles and eventually becomes (arguably) the strongest martial artist in the universe. He is not without help, however: the comic boasts a large ensemble cast of martial artist heroes and villains which provide the conflict that drives the story.
