The official Dragon Ball website announced, on Mar 22, 2024, that the Saudi Arabia-based Qiddiya Investment Company will be constructing the world’s first Dragon Ball theme park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Dragon Ball theme park will be a landmark asset in Qiddiya city, covering 500,000 square meters in area, packed with 30+ themed rides, 5 groundbreaking attractions set against the backdrop of Tuwaiq mountains, 7 distinctive themed zones based on the 7 dragon balls, and 5 different areas that recreate various iconic places from the series, such as Kame House, Capsule Corporation, and Beerus’s Planet.

The most eye-catching attraction of the theme park will be a 70 meter-tall statue of Shenron at the dead center, where visitors will get to ride a roller coaster around the statue!

Also, the park will have restaurants and hotels that are fully supplied, so fans can spend the whole day enjoying themselves while being immersed in the Dragon Ball world.

Qiddiya has presented a teaser trailer and concept art for the Dragon Ball theme park to give viewers a feel for what is yet to come! (No construction deadline for this has been stated as of yet).

Envisioned to attract a staggering 17 million annual visitors by 2030, Qiddiya aspires to emerge as the globe’s premier tourism hub.

Marking a significant milestone, the initial phase of Qiddiya concluded in 2023, paving the way for the realization of 45 distinct projects. Notably, a strategic partnership between Qiddiya and the University of Central Florida has been established to cultivate the talents of young Saudis in hospitality, tourism, and sports management, signifying a commitment to nurturing local expertise and fostering sustainable growth.

About Dragon Ball:

Dragon Ball is a manga series by Akira Toriyama. It first began its serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1984.

The manga was later adapted into a multitude of animated series, movies, and games.

The franchise consists of five different anime series, about 21 animated movies, and around 10 games spanning various platforms, from Famicon to Playstation and Xbox.

Synopsis of the Dragon Ball anime:

Goku Son is a young boy who lives in the woods all alone—that is, until a girl named Bulma runs into him in her search for a set of magical objects called the “Dragon Balls.”

Since the artefacts are said to grant one wish to whoever collects all seven, Bulma hopes to gather them and wish for a perfect boyfriend.

Goku happens to be in possession of a dragon ball, but unfortunately for Bulma, he refuses to part ways with it, so she makes him a deal: he can tag along on her journey if he lets her borrow the dragon ball’s power.

With that, the two set off on the journey of a lifetime.
