Black Clover Anime Sequel Might Have Already Started Production
Black Clover’s anime might make a return in the near future with this announcement coming up.
On June 26, 2025, Weekly Shonen Jump has announced that there will be new information about the Black Clover anime on next week’s Issue #32, which will come out on July 7, 2025.
Not much has been said about the Black Clover anime, other than confirmation that it will be returning.
Tatsuya Yoshihara was the director for the first 152 episodes of Black Clover, before becoming chief director and letting Ayataka Tanemura take the helm for the remaining 18 episodes.
He is currently the director for the Chainsaw Man movie set for release this September and might likely stay onboard for Season 2.
The adaptation was produced by Studio Pierrot, beginning on October 3, 2015 and ending on March 30, 2021 with 170 episodes and adapting the first 272 chapters of the anime, ending with Liebe’s contract with Asta at the start of Arc 10, the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc (Chapters 261-331).
The most recent anime release was the Black Clover film, “Sword of the Wizard King” released on June 6, 2023 worldwide on Netflix.
With such a long period and Pierrot working on fewer projects outside of Kingdom Season 6 and Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, we might see that Black Clover might already be deeper into production than we anticipate and could be ready for a potential early 2027 release, especially with Bleach’s conclusion set for 2026.

Reaching a total of 37 volumes and 381 chapters, Black Clover has also reached a milestone of more than 19 million copies sold as of June 4, 2023.
Black Clover is currently in its Final Arc, which began with Chapter 332 on August 1, 2022.
