On May 21, 2025, it was announced that Attack on Titan would be the first series to receive the “Global Impact Award”, the latest award in the lineup of the Crunchyroll Awards.

The Global Impact Award is a signifier of Attack on Titan’s cultural impact worldwide and is a way to honor the legacy of its creatives across its 10-year run.

Gita Rebbapragada, the Chief Operating Officer of Crunchyroll, explained the award, saying:

“This year, we’re proud to introduce the new Global Impact Award. We recently commissioned a study with National Research Group that explores just how important anime is to fans, especially Gen Z. For example, nearly 40% of teen anime fans consider anime a meaningful part of who they are, and 30% say it has influenced their outlook on life. The Global Impact Award will honor the series and films leaving a mark on culture and global fans alike.”

A similar recent award, Global TV Demand Awards by Parrot Analytics, also recognized Attack on Titan as most in-demand TV show in the world in 2021 and 2022 and the first non-English language show to do so as it was previously held by only The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.

A member of the staff from Studio MAPPA, the animation studio of the Final Season, will receive this award on behalf of all the creatives involved since 2013.

The 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards premiere Sunday, May 25 at at 5PM, Japan Standard Time (JST) and will be livestreamed on Crunchyroll channels on YouTube and Twitch, along with Sony Pictures Core and the Sony Group Corp. Global and Japan YouTube Channels.
