After 3 Years, Chainsaw Man’s Sales Are Rising Up Again
With over 4 million copies sold this year so far, Chainsaw Man could be witnessing a resurgence in sales thanks to the Reze Arc film.
On December 2, 2025, Chainsaw Man has officially reached 34 million copies sold worldwide.
Last November, the manga sold 33 million copies.
To note, the manga had sold close to a million copies from Volumes 19-21, which had been part of the Top 43 manga volumes sold in 2025.
Chainsaw Man’s sales history has often been used as a sign to determine the manga’s overall reception or the success of its adaptations and merchandise.
By the end of Part 1 of the manga in December 2020, Chainsaw Man had sold 5 million copies.
The anime was announced during Jump Festa 2021 that same month and the first teaser trailer was release on June 2021, at which by that point Chainsaw Man sold 11 million copies, doubling the amount of sales within less than a year due to the hype from the anime’s release.
With the release of Chainsaw Man: Part 2 of the manga on July, the manga sold 15 million copies by August 2022.
By the release of the anime on October 2022, the manga sold 18 million copies and by January 2023 after the anime concluded its 12-episode run, the manga sold 23 million copies.
However, between January 2023 to December 2024, there has been a decline in sales, as by the end of 2024, the manga sold 30 million copies.
This means that across two years, the manga has sold around 3 million copies a year meanwhile 2022 was the most successful year for the manga, rising from 12 million copies sold on December 2021 and ending on 23 million copies sold by the start of 2023, a total of 11 million copies within one year.
From these figures, some have remarked that Chainsaw Man sales have slowed down
However, considering when the sales have spiked, it is most likely that specific key moments propelled that rise and it can be seen with the release of the Reze Arc movie on September 19, 2025.
By October 2025, nearly a year after the last update, the manga sold 31 million copies and within 3 months, the manga has sold at least a million copies per month, a sign of the anime movie’s success especially in Japan, where Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc has consistently topped the Japan Box Office for all of September and October, then from November 1st-2nd and 15th-16th.
Perhaps by January, Chainsaw Man could already well be beyond 35 million copies sold and closer and closer to the 40 million milestone once the current Part of the manga wraps up.
Around this time as well, Fujimoto released one of his many “What-If” illustrations of Denji and Reze’s lives, this time featuring them going to elementary school together, which is fitting since neither of them were able to have a childhood or attend school.
Volume 23, which will likely cover Chapters 211 to 222, will be released on February 4, 2026.
