Does Kei Uzuki Deserve Any Redemption? Sakamoto Days Chapter 282 Spoilers!
Can Kei Uzuki really be redeemed or did he get off too easy for all the crimes he committed?
In the previous Sakamoto Days chapter, Sakamoto finally defeats Kei Uzuki with the power of Dad.
Day 282 is titled, “Always Together”.
This chapter has 20 pages.
Editor’s note: “The two of them, on the run, finally reach their destination!”
We look at a mixed flashback and flashing back in one’s dying moment.
Where we see a younger Kei Uzuki from 9 years ago driving a car in the middle of nowhere but sees the engine breakdown.
It seems to be the point where Kei Uzuki and Rion Akao were exhausted in constantly moving around and might have reached the end of it.
Rion explains that they needed to go somewhere even as they were in the middle of running away.
So, Rion proposes the two take a walk, leaving the car behind.
As they walk on a highway, Rion says that they have come a long way and the Assassin Assocation’s pursuers will not come to this point.
Uzuki asks what they will do now, with Rion offering to go where Uzuki wants to and he only wants to follow Rion.
Kei remarks that all he has ever thought about is running away.
This is not just to hide his attack on Kindaka and running away with Rion.
He has been running away from Sei Asaki his entire life, to try and get away from the false brother trying to ruin his life and that of his friends in Al-Kamar.
Uzuki’s turn to mindless violence is Uzuki taking Rion to the car, to a pointless destination, while chased by Sei Asaki and the JAA.
Rion tells him that he does not need to think about it anymore and suddenly, Rion runs off, with Uzuki trying to catch up but Rion is always fast, as he remarks.
As Uzuki kneels down, exhausted, alone, Rion tells him that they have always been together.
Here, Uzuki apologizes for not being able to create the ideal world she wished for and somewhere along the way, he turned the world she loved into a world without color.
And yet in spite everything, she never stopped caring about him.
It was clear all of Uzuki’s violence was an act of grief, being unable to create any new except more murder to wallow in self-pity over being forced to murder the woman he loved.
However, Rion calls him an idiot, saying that all she really wanted was for Uzuki himself to live happily.
Rion asks Uzuki to stand up and asks if he can walk, which also represents his current state after being defeated by Sakamoto.
Rion tells Uzuki he can still go back but Uzuki refuses.
So Rion embraces him, promosing to always be by his side.
We return to the present day as Uzuki seems to pass out.
While the entire city of Tokyo cheers on at Sakamoto’s victory displayed onscreen.
Sakamoto emerges out of the studio with Shin helping him up, although Sakamoto wishes he could collect the prize money and retire.
All of Sakamoto’s comrades gather around him, praising him for his incredible fight.
Tenkyu, however, checks on Uzuki’s body, his friendship with him still being strong in spite of his sociopathy and finding new friends in Shin.
Boiled and Natsuki Seba remark how Sakamoto failed to kill Uzuki.
Shin is insulted by the accusation of Sakamoto being “dirty” or “weak” and unable to finish the job.
Natsuki explains that there is no point keeping someone extremely dangerous like Uzuki alive.
Shishiba steps in, reminding Natsuki that since he did not take part in the fight, he has no right to swoop in and steal the kill, only Sakamoto has the right to decide whether to kill or spare Uzuki.
Sakamoto asks Granny Miya to treat Uzuki, with Boiled surprised Sakamoto would go so far for Uzuki in spite all he has done.
Sakamoto remarks that those killed by Uzuki will never come back.
Natsuki reminds Sakamoto the JAA and their associates will do something about this and Sakamoto agrees, noting things must be settled properly.
In living his normal life and likely understanding why Uzuki and Rion were in hiding, Sakamoto realized that even killers can live ordinary lives like himself and no matter how terrible a person has been, they are not necessarily completely evil.
Uzuki was once a good person and good people can suffer and distort in the midst of evil, so he asks for understanding.
Hana says that she is hungry, so Shin offers to let her piggyback ride on him.
So Sakamoto says they will go home.
Editor’s note: “”Something unexpected is happening at the thriving Sakamoto Store…!?”
We might be entering the penultimate or even the final chapter of Sakamoto Days soon.
Sakamoto Days Chapter 283 will be released on November 16, 2026.
