One Piece GOD VALLEY MOVIE IS REAL!
For the first time, One Piece will be adapting manga material into a movie, which could hint at a possible direction for the rest of the Final Saga.
On August 23, 2026, for One Piece Day 2026, it was announced that the new One Piece film is titled, “God Valley”, marking the first time a film covers a canon arc from the original manga itself.
What was once treated as a joke has become a reality.
However, the hints were there as Oda’s Jump Festa 2026 message last year talked about the film being of great interest to the fandom, hinting that it would cover canon material
The brief trailer shows God Valley itself and the three main players: the future Pirate King Gol D. Roger, the future Hero of the Marines Monkey D. Garp and the main “threat”, Rocks D. Xebec, in black and white.
This was taken from the magazine cover for Weekly Shonen Jump Issue No. 52 released on November 25, 2026.
Initially, there have been worries about the production, as on February 2026, according to sources within the Tokyo animation scene who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the friction stems from Oda’s refusal to sign off on a standard movie script.
In the end, it seems that these production issues have been settled or disproven somewhat as this movie has been in the works alongside the ongoing Elbaph Arc anime adaptation.
Furthermore, it is confirmed that one of the reasons why there are many manga breaks in mid-2026 is due to Oda’s direct involvement with the God Valley movie.
Since the anime is set to conclude the second cour of Elbaph with Chapter 1151: “I Get the Idea!!!” , the God Valley movie would likely cover Chapter 1152: “A Horrible Day” to Chapter 1171: “Ragnir”, a total of 19 chapters, making it the longest-running flashback of the entire series and this is quite long for a movie, especially with how dense One Piece chapters are.
However, the God Valley parts would start with Chapter 1154: “Can’t Even Die” to Chapter 1166: “New Stories” for a total of 12 chapters.
Considering the anime makes sure to adapt everything, it is possible that the entirety of Loki’s flashback, the “Elbaph and God Valley flashback” will be adapted
This movie is set for 2027.
Another movie has also been announced called “Film BaaD”, with emphasis on the D perhaps hinting that it will add lore to the D Clan.
It is unknown if this movie will be canon like God Valley but there is a possibility that with the short gap in releases between films, we might be seeing a Demon Slayer situation as Demon Slayer popularized turning anime seasons or even finales into movies, as is the case for Gintama, Haikyu, Chainsaw Man, and is expected for Jujutsu Kaisen.
If Film BaaD is going to cover canon material, it could start with Chapter 1172: “The Elbaph I Dreamed Of” and perhaps finish up the entire Elbaph Arc but this might not be a close possibility since the TV anime is a much beloved property.
God Valley has been seen as a movie event due to its unique place in the story’s lore and the emphasis for better treatment than the already high-quality production of the modern One Piece anime.
This movie is slated for 2029, confirming that One Piece is not going anywhere for at least the next 5 years.
