My Hero Academia Author to Release Horror One-Shot
After 4 years, My Hero Academia author Kohei Horikoshi fulfills his desire to write a horror manga
On July 29, 2026, it was announced that Kohei Horikoshi, the author of My Hero Academia, will be producing a horror one-shot manga.
Titled, “Don’t Laugh, Shijima-san”, this is a 61-paged one-shot described as a “boy meets girl” horror story and we see the two leads in this illustration.
This is something within Horikoshi’s alley, especially given how much effort he puts into drawing the horrific expressions of Tomura Shigaraki, Dabi, Overhaul, the Nomu, and All for One.
In the April 10, 2022, issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, Horikoshi wrote, “I have a small desire to draw a horror manga. Very small.”
And now we see that fulfilled here.
This will be out on the Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #37/38 out on August 10th, coinciding the release of the “I am a Hero Too” special anime and the 2nd anniversary of the My Hero Academia manga ending.
