Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3 Set for Next Year
It seems we might have a full 12-episode cour season next year with Frieren’s longest arc being set for 2027.
On March 28, 2026, with the airing of the 10th episode of Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, titled “A Beautiful Sight”, it was announced that Season 3 will be airing next year, October 2027 for the Fall Season.
As the 38th overall episode adapted up Chapter 80: “Holy Snow Crystals”, this sets up the Golden Land Arc, the longest arc of the manga, spanning Chapter 77: “A Thunder of Dragons” to Chapter 104: “A Visit to Her Grave”, a total of 28 chapters.
This came with a key visual featuring the newly-introduced antagonist, the demon Macht, who is the last surviving Sage of Destruction.
With Frieren episodes coming at a pace of 2 chapters per episode and with 25 chapters left to the arc, it is likely that this arc will be adapted into 12 episodes, meaning a full cour is expected.
However, if more episodes will be added to reach 24 episodes like a normal 2-cour season or even 28 like Season 1, it will have to adapt the Goddess Monument Arc (Chapter 105 to 119) and the Imperial Travels Arc (Chapter 120 to 125) as setup for the ongoing Foundation Festival Arc (Chapter 126 to present)
About Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a fantasy adventure manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe for Shogakukan’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Sunday since April 2020, reaching 15 volumes as of October 11, 2025.
The series has sold 35 million copies as of January 31, 2026.
The anime adaptation is under Studio Madhouse’s care, with Keiichirō Saitō (also the director of Bocchi the Rock) as director, releasing a total of 28 episodes and debuted with a 2-hour pilot special containing the first four episodes on September 29, 2023.
Released from January 16, 2026 to March 27, 2026, Season 2 sees only 10 episodes released.
These 38 episodes adapted the first 80 chapters of the manga
Evan Call (Violet Evergarden) is the music composer for the series.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is the story of Frieren, the elf mage from the Hero Party that defeated the Demon King, and her journey after the retirement of her Party.
Joined by her apprentice Fern and their vanguard Stark, the group would roam across the world, with Frieren wanting to learn more magic while resting place of souls in order to reunite with Himmel, the Hero of her party.
The current indefinite hiatus is still ongoing, having begun on October 15, 2025,
