Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End SURPASSES One Piece As Best Selling Manga of 2026 In Spite of Hiatus
In spite of an ongoing hiatus since last year, Frieren surpasses One Piece, the best-seller of 2025 by a tiny margin.
On May 26, 2026, we got the manga sales rankings for the first half of 2026 from Oricon and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has displaced One Piece as the best-selling manga for 2026, at least for the first half.
In spite of the ongoing indefinite hiatus as of October 18, 2025, Frieren surprisingly maintains the top spot only with a slight margin, which means it could go either way for the overall rankings this year.
These are the rankings for physical sales and does not include digital copies
This covers the period from November 17, 2025 to May 17, 2026, a total of 6 months.

One Piece reached the 600 million copies milestone as of March 2, 2026.
As previously announced, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo already sold more than 1 million copies of all 3 of its volumes as of the start of May and thus has secured 6th place overall.
While the sequel has garnered nearly 1.2 million, the original series is growing to over 1.4 million despite having ended in 2024, which is likely attributed to the massive success of the anime adaptation and the overall solid popularity of the series, having reached 150 million copies by the end of 2025.
Blue Lock has attained over 60 million copies sold as of June 2026 and their consistent placement in the top 10 shows the manga’s excellence performance throughout its run.
Chainsaw Man has recently ended and in spite of mixed reception, the manga’s penultimate volume and the Reze Arc film was able to help the series reach a total of 36 million copies sold.
Spy x Family recently hit the 50 million sales milestone as of March 30, 2026.
The Fragrant Flower has reached over 10 million copies sold as of the end of December, its success bolstered by the release of the anime adaptation and a recent uptick in performance overall.
In spite of online discourse, Sakamoto Days maintains a solid place in the top 10 like last year, seeing as its final arc is still ongoing and that it has released a live-action movie, with Blue Lock following suit.
Just as the Apothecary Diaries is the best-selling light novel series, its manga counterpart is also doing well, also having the 5th best-selling volume.
My Hero Academia has lost its place in the top 10 rankings, showing a decline Jujutsu Kaisen has yet to experience.

Ranking at the top of best-selling volumes, One Piece Volume 114, released on March 2nd, carries the manga’s overall sales for the first half of 2026, with Volume 113 making up for 20% of the count.
Meanwhile, Spy x Family and Frieren’s latest volumes together make up One Piece Volume 114’s sales count, showing the immense popularity of Rocks D. Xebec as a character and the God Valley flashback as a plotpoint.
Frieren’s overall top spot is mostly carried by the even distribution in volume sales, with latest Volume 15, released on December 18, 2025, as the 3rd best-selling volume but at only half of One Piece Volume 114’s numbers, the limited edition version of the same volume at 154,769.
This success could be due to the release of Season 2 on January 16th, a similar reasoning to Jujutsu Kaisen’s placement.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo and One Piece dominate the volume sales in the top 10, with Modulo Volume 3 being in the top 15.
In a surprising twist, the One Piece Chopper spinoff has outsold most manga volumes, a sign of One Piece’s lasting popularity carrying any of its entries.
Alongside all of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo’s 3 volumes, Blue Lock has the most number of volumes present to account for its placement in the top 10, with Volumes 36 to 38 totalling 683,386, due to how fast and often Blue Lock releases volumes.
