In a hilarious twist, Sakamoto saves Akira from certain death…and advertises his store’s pens
In the previous Sakamoto Days chapter, Akira and Takamura-Uzuki continue the fight.
Days 244 is titled, “Advertising”

The chapter begins with people watching the battle between Akira and Uzuki going live, ending up with the pair crashing literally through a wall into a wedding.
Kanaguri always wanted to deliver a powerful, raw documentary directly to an audience and with it ending without certainty.
Takamura-Uzuki leaps to a wall behind Akira and slams her head down on the floor.
So Akira bits off Uzuki’s forefinger.
Now angered, Takamura-Uzuki attacks but Akira sees the married couple and shoves the groom away for their safety, except this allows Uzuki to slash through Akira.
Bleeding out, Akira feels cold as people watch with worry and Kanaguri finds excitement in the battle.
With the last of her strength, Akira throws her blade up, cutting Uzuki’s cheek.
However, this actually brings down a chandelier upon Uzuki’s head and with Akira gripping his leg, the chandelier crashes on them both.
A lit candle from the fallen chandelier triggers a fire in the wedding hall.
Yet in spite of everything, Uzuki stands unfazed, aura-farming through the flames.
Kanaguri monologues mentally about how Akira is just a powerless young woman before Uzuki’s overwhelming presence.
This feels like the beautiful tragic death of the avenger Akira Akao.
Now Kanaguri asks what Akira will leave behind as her final scene as Uzuki is prepared to cut her down.
Suddenly, Sakamoto grabs Uzuki by the hair, saying they meet again as he stabs Uzuki on the chest with just a pen.
Akira looks on at her savior and apologizes.
Kanaguri is shocked to see Sakamoto being alive and, more importantly to him, ruining his ideal movie since now a fat guy ruins the immersion.
Hmmm, this whole scene and Kanaguri feels like the audience expecting Sakamoto Days to be gritty and “realistic” and now in a lowkey Gear 5/Looney Tunes Cartoon moment, we break that immersion for some shonen fun.
With his pen, Sakamoto writes “290 yen” on Kanaguri’s camera lens, advertising the pen from his store.
