THE SILENT INVASION! CATH PALUG VS MELIODAS!!! Four Knights of the Apocalypse Chapter 220 Spoilers!
Nakaba COOKED HARD for the start of the year! A whole chapter without dialogue sets up the destruction of Camelot itself as Cath Palug directly faces off against Meliodas!
In the previous Four Knights of the Apocalypse chapter, Lancelot leaves Camelot and together with the Seven Deadly Sins and their New Holy War allies, prepares for War with “King Arthur”
Four Knights of the Apocalypse Chapter 220 is titled, “The Signal to Rise Up!”
This chapter has 20 pages.
The cover page shows the five active members of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Meliodas is in the center of course, with Ban to his right and Gowther to his left while Diane is on the background with King sitting on her wrist.
This entire chapter has no dialogue and every little choice in this chapter is utterly deliberate and fantastic.
The chapter takes place at night.
Thetis casts the spell that would activate the talismans.
Howzer and Gilthunder visit Diodora, Gareth and Balin, giving Diodora a locked box.
In the same house, Merlin and Escanor as puppets tap on the shoulder of Beltreipe’s daughter, Isolde II.
Guila readies her forces.
The Tristan Platoon, Anne and Donny prepare themselves for battle.
Elizabeth stays with her father Bartra.
The spell is now complete, with the massive spell seal formed and flying up.
We see Arthur being cheered on by the crowd
Among them was Elva, the girl from Donny’s performer troupe and who was never seen again after the first arc of the entire series.
We see Elva clinging to Donny’s arm, except this was not the real Donny because the latter was still in Liones with Team Percival.
This confirms that Elva felt lonely after Donny left them and had probably chosen Camelot during the timeskip.
Two years without the man you love would lead you to desperation.
And this is why she has a fake Donny in Camelot.
But then, one by one, the crowd vanished in different ways.
Elva vanishes and the fake Donny is surprised, only to find that he and the others disintegrate into pieces, alongside the rest of Camelot.
“Arthur” himself almost falls off his horse as the land crumbles before him and in outrage at losing his “eternal kingdom”, Cath changes his hands and face to his cat monster form and screams.
This seems to indicate that Cath Palug actually enjoyed being Arthur, enjoyed being a human and, most of all, the presence of people cheering for his every deed.
While Cath was a nihilist who craved destruction, deep down he enjoyed being distracted with the fake role of King Arthur.
Thanks to the spell on the talismans Lancelot gave during Guinevere’s wedding, those who were trapped in Camelot would return to Britannia and Camelot would lose its power.
Without any real people, Camelot’s illusion is dispelled.
While this appears like Nakaba did not shade the characters or even complete their designs, the simplicity in having everything turn white is deliberate.
As the characters then witness that brightness darkness.
Suddenly, Liones is shrouded in darkness as it feels like all color has been sapped.
A portal appears in front of the Seven Deadly Sins and out comes “Arthur” and the Four Evils, with the evil cat looking down on an angry Meliodas.
