Dr. Stone and Gachiakuta Mangaka Leave Twitter

Prominent manga authors have decided to leave Twitter amidst concerns over Grok’s AI image‑editing feature.

Gachiakuta x Dr. Stone

On December 25, 2025, BOICHI, the artist behind “Sun-Ken Rock” (2006-2016), “Dr. Stone” (2017-2022) and his latest work, “The Martial King” (2025-present) has announced that he will officially stop posting his anime and manga illustrations on X (Twitter).

In his post, Boichi made the following comment:

“An artist cannot endure even a single pen line or a single dot of their drawing being altered by someone else. Because it is our precious, beloved child… if you cannot understand it, then you do not understand ‘drawing.'”

This is due to his uncomfortable with X’s new Grok AI image‑editing feature that lets anyone alter images, including manga panels or original art, which would infringe upon copyright.

Later on December 26, Kei Urana, the manga artist behind “Gachiakuta” (2022-present), just announced that she’ll be moving her art posts mainly to Instagram.

In their post, Urana says:

“Twitter seems to be going downhill, so from now on I’ll mainly be posting my art on Instagram”

This was not the first instance of popular manga authors leaving the platform as early as April 14th, Chrono Crusade mangaka, Daisuke Moriyama tweeted about Grok’s editing feature:

“I realize this is a bit abrupt, but I will be deleting all of my artwork from X.

With the implementation of the generative AI function “Edit photo with Grok”,

I have lost any desire to leave my work on this platform.

I hope you all can understand”

As early as August 1, 2023, many artists have left Twitter due to concerns over generative AI software like Elon Musk’s xAI that has used Twitter to train with.
