Boruto RE-ACTIVATES KARMA! Is the End of Konoha Near? Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 28 Spoilers!
Boruto has activated Karma but has he fully controlled his Otsutsuki half or will Momoshiki make everyone’s lives miserable?
In the previous Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter, Eida officially builds a real friendship with Sarada and Sumire meanwhile, Boruto asks Sumire to fix his sword. Amidst all of this, Mamushi prepares to take Eida.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 28 is titled
The chapter cover is in purple and features Sumire Kakei holding Boruto’s sword.
This sword was the one she was tasked to repair last chapter and could represent her feelings for him.
Again, anime watchers will understand why she developed such feelings for Boruto.
Editor’s note: “Inojin trains hard to master a new jutsu for the battle against Mamushi!! What is the power of the jutsu that will be key to the operation!?”
The chapter begins with Inojin putting his fingers together to form a seal to form something, which seems to be a large water bubble that expands with a handsign, resembling the Sensing Water Sphere but smaller.
Boruto is impressed that Inojin was able to master the technique within a single day.
Inojin, however, reminds Boruto that he is only here for the Leaf Village and Himawari and that he will never forgive him of his crime of treason, of killing the Seventh Hokage Naruto.
Boruto says that the same goes for him and that if Inojin makes Himawari cry, he will shave his head completely bald.
Inojin looks confused, not realizing that Boruto is actually Himawari’s older brother.
Boruto teleports, leaving Inojin even more confused since, from his perspective, Boruto is the one who destroyed the Uzumaki household.
Back in the Leaf Village, Kudo’s interrogation proceeds, with Kudo telling Konohamaru to leave and for Mitsuki to take his turn.
Sai contacts the Sensor Unit telepathically, asking for any communication between Konohamaru and a third party, specifically exchanges from the past few minutes but the Sensor Unit reports that it was only a regular check-in last night and no usage for the past few minutes.
This is because Inojin was the one establishing a different line for Konohamaru and Shikamaru.
Sai still glances at Konohamaru with suspicion.
Kudo identifies Mitsuki as the child of the infamous Orochimaru, reminding the young man of his parent’s crimes.
Since Mitsuki was the one closest to Boruto prior to the latter’s escape, Kudo interrogates him.
Boruto’s New Sword!
On a roof, Boruto inspects the repaired blade.
Sumire remarks that the blade has been reshaped to maximize its strength and sharpness but the guard remains intact.
Additionally, the sword can activate Boruto’s Uchiha-Style Kenjutsu: Hagoromo (Cloaked Sword) on its own as long as Boruto grips the hilt and activate the technique with a handsign.
The sword is set to automatically maintain the technique and thus save the user chakra and a lot of hassle.
Previously, using this technique required constant maintenance from the user to prevent the sword from chipping, which made it troublesome for Boruto as it was a taxing feat of chakra control.
Now the sword can maintain the technique without constant user input.
Boruto notices that the blade is slightly absorbing his chakra but it was designed this way so Boruto does not need to devote concentration to the Hagoromo technique and the technique will stay as long as Boruto’s vast chakra can hold out.
However, Sumire installed a safety feature, wherein anyone who is not Boruto holding the sword will have their chakra drained more heavily.
Only Sasuke and Boruto can use this sword safely and as the one who remade the sword, Sumire’s chakra is registered as well.
Boruto is impressed with how his traditional katana has become a Scientific Ninja Tool with built-in safety mechanisms.
Sumire reveals one more secret: the sword has a secret special material infused into it.
Was the Nue creature involved in the sword’s creation?
What secret will Boruto’s Sword of Kusanagi hold?
Keep in mind also that Sasuke is currently trapped and in the form of one of the Human Divine Trees, Hidari.
Going after the Sword of Kusanagi is a possibility and he might be one of the exceptions, considering that every Divine Tree victim still retains their jutsu, except for Visual Prowess (Sasuke’s lone Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan is replaced with two Rinnegan).
Will the new material act as a counter to Hidari’s Chidori?
Shikadai’s Conviction
In the Hokage office, Shikamaru summons his son Shikadai and tells him of Boruto’s involvement and of a coming Human Divine Tree attack, that the Leaf Village will turn into a battlefield and he will lead the operation.
Shikadai is angered that this will come about after Shikamaru brings Boruto, the traitor, to his side.
Shikadai seems to doubt his father’s ability to be Hokage by forgiving someone who killed the previous Hokage.
Shikamaru asserts to Shikadai his ability, saying that when he took the position of interim Hokage, he promised in his heart that no matter the circumstances, he would not waver in his convictions just as Naruto did and that what he is doing now is not yielding to pressure or compromising that integrity.
Given that he will do anything to protect the Leaf, he sees Boruto’s cooperation as absolutely necessary to combat the new Human Divine Tree threat.
If Shikadai still refuses to believe, that is his choice and also his choice to not participate in the operation as that is not an order.
However, Shikadai must not reveal any information discussed in the Hokage Office to anyone else and from there, Shikadai can decide for himself.
Shikadai insists that Shikamaru give him the order.
Shikadai explains that Himawari will be joining the operation and like Sarada, she also wants to help Boruto in spite of her family being gone because of him.
Chocho cannot leave Himawari alone and the same goes for Inojin.
Therefore, Shikadai will put his personal feelings about Boruto aside so that he will stake his life on the Hokage’s orders as a shinobi.
Multiple Singularities of Fate Ruin Ten Directions’ Power
Back in Koji’s hideout, Inojin asks that if Koji knew everything that will happen from his visions, why did Koji not tell him in more detail.
Koji explains this way: for instance, even if Inojin knew he was going to die, would he have charged towards Jura for Himawari’s sake?
If Inojin knew he would hesitate with the knowledge of dying, his legs would instinctively freeze and he would not be able to move.
And if Inojin survived then, would Himawari’s power have awakened by then?
Koji’s point is that if he tells anyone the future he saw, it will change slightly.
The more ideal the future outcome, the less people need to know about it.
Because even if someone told people about the future with good intentions, it could trigger unexpected developments that are far beyond the initial prediction.
Those who know of the fragmented future become singularities of fate, such as Boruto, Eida and Koji himself.
Thanks to their awareness, their actions influence the course of events to follow.
The more singularities of fate there are, the more the future branches out into complex possibilities, which makes prediction difficult and the Ten Directions near useless.
Sharing information must always be done with the utmost caution.
Inojin concludes that because Koji is not sharing much to anyone, by going with the flow, things will lead into a better direction.
Koji is a consequentialist at heart.
He says that whether you are right or wrong, the answer comes when you reach the outcome.
Koji remarks they now have enough information but the fight will depend on Boruto and Shikamaru’s decisions.
We then see two visions: of Eida being consumed by Mamushi, becoming a tree.
And Himawari dying in Inojin’s arms.
Koji seeks for a way to prevent both Eida or Himawari’s deaths.
The Mind Transmission
Shikamaru has now made contact with his whole group:
Team 7 consisting of Sarada and Mitsuki, led by Konohamaru.
Team 10 consisting of Shikadai and Chocho, with Inojin staying with Koji.
Eida and Daemon, with Sumire and Sarada staying there.
Kawaki.
Delta.
And of course, Boruto and Kashin Koji.
A total of 13 people and only these individuals will be part of Shikamaru’s operation.
Shikamaru reminds them that this transmission is on an unofficial channel
First, Shikamaru explains the selection criteria, that it involves those who bear no hostility towards Boruto for the coming battle (Kawaki being the most tentative among them).
Boruto is presently labeled as a traitor and a target for elimination, therefore there will be interference.
The team is to help Boruto move around the Leaf Village while remaining on high alert for enemy threats.
Second, Shikamaru explains the nature of their transmission, which uses a Yamanaka Clan technique, the Mind Transmission Jutsu invented by Inojin.
There is a Scientific Ninja Tool frog in front of the Sensing Water Sphere created by Inojin.
A frog in Shikamaru’s office transmits the bubble so that he will identify the location of any target and coordinate the team’s movements.
Shikamaru then explains Mamushi’s abilities: to split into distinct, independent copies of equal strength and his ability to erase his chakra signature like any Otsutsuki, rendering him undetectable by the Leaf’s Sensing Barrier.
This is where Inojin’s new jutsu is essential.
Inojin explains that their communication is the same as the regular Mind Transmission Jutsu.
The difference is that each person will act like a receiver and can detect the vibrations of objects in their immediate vicinity, akin to echolocation.
Whether living or not, each object emits its own vibration frequency and since chakra sensing will not work in finding Mamushi, they will use echolocation instead.
Shikadai is impressed that Inojin was able to master such a jutsu in a short span of time.
After the long preface, Shikamaru begins to explain deeply on Mamushi’s abilities, their countermeasures and the details of the operation.
Mamushi Arrives!
Suddenly, the Water Sphere bubbles wildly in every direction, indicating Mamushi’s arrival in the Leaf Village.
A Mamushi copy asks a random Leaf civilian where Eida is.
Shikamaru tells Inojin to calm down as he will locate the enemy, which are in Area C, eight in total and spaced 30 meters apart from each other.
Koji tells Boruto that the nearest shape is “Keyhole”, which enables Boruto to use the Flying Raijin Jutsu and bring himself to a frog holding a Keyhole.
Page 29 is the sneak peek, showing Boruto’s teleportation, Shikamaru frustrated that Mamushi’s arrival came too early, Koji remarking that fate has been altered way too much, and Kawaki’s reaction to Mamushi’s arrival.
Eida is disgusted by the sight of multiple Mamushi’s that she feels like throwing up but Daemon promises to protect her
Sarada attempts to go after Mamushi but Shikamaru orders her to stay put and reminds her that the Mamushi’s will scatter over a wide area.
Shikamaru assigns Team 10 (Chocho and Himawari) to the Eastern part of the District D while Team 7 (Sarada only) head for the northern part of District B.
It is likely that Sarada could encounter Hidari here, meaning that with the three remaining Human Divine Trees in the Leaf Village, this could be the final arc to end this species’ threat to the planet.
Shikamaru checks up on Mitsuki, who is still stuck in the interrogation room.
Shikamaru tells him to stay put but that Mitsuki can move at the right moment, finding any opportunity amidst the chaos to help out.
Mamushi’s target is Eida, who is in the eastern side of District A of the Leaf Village.
Boruto will use Flying Raijin Jutsu to jump to each location and dispatch the Bugs.
Kawaki will provide support based on the situation, orders Shikamaru gave considering that Kawaki does not follow orders.
Back to the Mamushi copy in District C, the civilians call him out for being a perverted old man.
From the second floor of another building, the original Mamushi tells its comrade to kill the civilians but not to destroy the buildings so that Jura does not scold them.
The men see two Mamushi and wonder what is going on.
Before Mamushi could make a move, Boruto cuts the copy down and he tells the civilians to leave the area if they do not want to die.
The civilians are shocked by the presence of infamous criminal Boruto.
Suddenly, Mamushi produces more copies, with two jumping down and one lunging a large left arm that Boruto blocks with his sword.
The two civilians flee, attempting to reach the police station.
Boruto slices through the Rinnegan of one clone, as that is their weakpoint and prevents futher duplication.
Page 38 is the second sneak peek, which shows Boruto being chased by a Mamushi copy in an alleyway.
Later, we see two Mamushi clones spew fire, possinly the Fireball Jutsu, to catch up to Boruto but this causes a fire, leading to one clone reminding the others that this is bad since Jura would not want any of the buildings in the Leaf destroyed.
Boruto’s Rampage Will END THE LEAF
Suddenly, the flames are put out.
And it is done by Boruto activating Karma and Boruto remarks that he is still not used to the “irritating” feeling from absorbing chakra.
The chapter ends with Boruto using Karma for the first time since the first series, unleashing Momoshiki’s power.
This will definitely play a part in the current arc’s outcome as it is possible that Momoshiki will take over and cause a rampage that could potentially spell the end for the Leaf Village.
