REZE IS COMING BACK! Chainsaw Man Chapter 213 Spoilers!

Yoshida’s final moments could signal the return of a character who just disappeared, just in time for her movie too.

CHAINSAW MAN © 2018 Tatsuki Fujimoto, Shueisha

In the previous Chainsaw Man chapter, Fumiko Mifune tells Denji to side with War instead of Death and reveals her deal with the STD Devil as a means of living forever.

Chainsaw Man Chapter 213 is titled, “Role”.

Released on September 3, 2025, this chapter has 15 pages.

The chapter begins with Denji being an idiot.

First, when he thinks about Death, he recalls how Death opened up her panties to him.

Except that is not what happened in Chapter 211: “War, Panties, Chainsaw”.

She opened her skirt to reveal the hole on her belly.

That is why when Denji recalls the panties, he does not include the hole on her panties.

Then he recalls Fumiko telling Denji to bring down Death while in naked form from the photo she gave him.

The idiot then says that he is a chick magnet, even though the series and Denji himself have been reminded of how thoroughly exploited Denji has been, both sexually and existentially.

At least we are reminded Denji is not a completely lost cause in this frustrating story as Denji does remind himself that when women throw himself at him, he is always tricked.

Then he recalls the Fire Devil’s words in Chapter 205: “Who?”, choosing between two options again.

As it rains, Denji finds Hirofumi Yoshida standing outside in the rain.

Death and Fami acknowledge his presence, with Fami having only one panel suggesting that she senses or knows what Yoshida is here for.

Yoshida says he has come to see the school and expresses an odd gratitude.

Thanks to Denji, he was able to go to school, something he was likely unable to do either due to poverty or being an orphaned victim of Devils.

In a way, this was a good role for him to play.

Anyway, Yoshida brings pizza and drinks for Denji but he does not partake, only liking to watch people eat.

A remark that reminds Denji of Aki, the man who took him into his apartment along with Power.

The first ever real family he had.

Yoshida brings up how Denji tried to scare school delinquents with his Chainsaw Man form and try to cut an arm or two but Yoshida stopped him by punching their lights out.

Yoshida had fun with Denji in spite of it being his mission and he felt gratitude for Denji being in his care, as it essentially allowed him to become human for once.

However, now is the time to say goodbye, which leaves Denji confused.

Yoshida thanks Denji for the time in school and apologizes to him.

However, he says that he now fulfills the role of the switch and blows up the whole school, catching Denji, Death and Famine within.

The last spread catches us off-guard.

Over 10 pages of wholesome male friendship or the realization of what will not be, of Yoshida likely dying before the advent of War.

Fujimoto once again surprises us with his ability to give us one of the most tender, human moments in the story, only to throw us off when a bomb explodes.

It feels like we are so back to some real storytelling after too much gooning.

Yoshida’s Tragedy or Another Deception?

Hirofumi Yoshida is one of the most puzzling characters in Chainsaw Man, intended to act as a point of intrigue due to his vague origins and personality.

No one really knows what his angle is, other than working for Public Safety to use Denji to fight against the advent of the Death Devil.

Yet now Denji is on Death Devil’s side.

Since he and Fumiko are working together, his very last action is a last-ditch effort to end both Denji and Death while leaving the world’s fate to the War Devil and the nature of human conflict.

Considering the desperation, the Aki comparison might be apt since Aki sacrificed most of his lifespan to defeat the Gun Devil yet in the end become him, a tragic but poetic end for an avenger.

Becoming a weapon of War himself, Yoshida might have filled the same role but without a flashback or context.

Perhaps we will never see that or he will come back in some form to haunt Denji.

He does mention how he was given a “role” to look after Denji and go to school, saying that it was a good one.

It does fit the idea of Yoshida being an actor, who has no real stakes besides the script he is given by his masters, Public Safety, whose bureaucracy we barely see at all.

Perhaps in the end, he was still a pawn of the political system that wanted to end Death by any means, from sacrificing 10,000 children to the Aging Devil to blowing up a school and losing their one weapon against the War Devil.

The War Devil being empowered and a vehicle for American imperialism seems apt right now considering the Japanese setting as she is mobilizing her forces to consolidate world domination.

Either way, this “final act” leaves us with more questions than answers.

Is Reze Involved?

One of the lingering threads in Chainsaw Man’s plot is Reze’s absence in Part 2.

Kishibe is one thing but Reze is a surprise, considering that all of the Weapon Hybrids are involved in the Chainsaw Man Church Arc, including Quanxi, who works for Public Safety, unlike the other Hybrids.

All of the Weapon Hybrids, including Reze, were manipulated by Makima for the Control Devil Arc, the final arc of Part 1.

The fact they were controlled by the Control Devil is important because that had impact on their lives, particularly Barem Bridge, who hated Denji so much for killing Makima.

Although another interpretation is that Barem is actually so in love with Makima that he is immune to her control.

However, Reze is never shown among the Weapon Hybrids that sided with the Chainsaw Man Church, only in a flashback during the Aging Devil Arc in Chapter 183: “Barf, Head, Perv”.

Perhaps here we will see Reze return, bringing yet another complication to Denji’s choices.

Reze was essentially Denji’s first love and the Reze Arc film is coming out.

It is also minor and probably not intentional but both Reze and Yoshida make a similar pose near their necks since

We have not seen Reze use people as bombs in a similar fashion to Yoshikage Kira from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures but that might be a possibility.
