It Has Been 6 Months Since Frieren’s Indefinite Hiatus and Now…
Frieren has been on hiatus for six months but we might have an update.

On June 24, 2025, it was announced that Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End would return from its six-month hiatus on July 2, 2025.
Frieren began its hiatus after the release of Chapter 140: “Ballroom” on December 25, 2024.
Frieren is no stranger to hiatuses, as in January 2023, it was announced the manga would go on hiatus and returned after 3 months by March.
The manga went on another hiatus in May 2024 and resumed in August, also period of 3 months as well.
This marks the longest hiatus, double the length of the previous times.
Amidst this hiatus, the anime announced Season 2 will be coming on January 2026.
About Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a fantasy adventure manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe for Shogakukan’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Sunday since April 2020, reaching 14 volumes as of March 18, 2025.
The anime adaptation is under Studio Madhouse’s care, with Keiichirō Saitō (also the director of Bocchi the Rock) as director, releasing a total of 28 episodes and debuted with a 2-hour pilot special containing the first four episodes on September 29, 2023.
These 28 episodes adapted the first 60 chapters of the manga.
Evan Call (Violet Evergarden) is the music composer for the series.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is the story of Frieren, the elf mage from the Hero Party that defeated the Demon King, and her journey after the retirement of her Party. Joined by her apprentice Fern and their vanguard Stark, the group would roam across the world, with Frieren wanting to learn more magic while resting place of souls in order to reunite with Himmel, the Hero of her party.
By February 2025, the manga had over 24 million copies in circulation.
