What started as a happy conclusion to Elbaph has made everything even worse. Are the books safer now? And can Luffy and Loki actually deal with full power, true body Imu?
In the previous One Piece chapter, Loki and Luffy finally reach Imu, beginning their fated battle.
One Piece Chapter 1178 is titled, “It was a Nightmare”

Easy Defeat?
Luffy moves Brook and Usopp to the Sanji group.
Meanwhile, Loki attacks Imu, but Imu dodges all attacks.
When Luffy returns to the fight, Imu transforms into a black shape form (similar to Saturn at God Valley).
This does mean that Imu has a monster form by demonizing the body of any vessel.
Imu stabs Luffy and Loki with the black body and uses Domi Reversi like they did with Rocks in Chapter 1163: “Promise”, but it has no effect on them.
Imu already knew that Domi Reversi would not work on Luffy and Loki, and Imu was about to reveal why but before he could spell out the reason, Luffy attacks Imu with a Gatling while Loki, in regular Giant form with Ragnir, lands a freezing attack on Imu.
Are they immune because of their Devil Fruits or because of them having specific Devil Fruits?
Willpower was probably not a factor back then, although Rocks’ was weakened due to the danger his family was in.
So what made them immune?
But one thing is clear here, that Luffy and Loki have surpassed the level of Imu vessels, possibly even of a single yokai Elder when joining forces and that Imu has no means of converting Luffy and Loki.
Where are the Books?
It does feel like the owl took all the books since it is the only creature capable of changing their sizes.
No shelves were moved or anything.
It initially felt like Killingham did this but he would have just burned everything down.
This was an act to preserve the history of the world, meaning Biblio left and took off with the books, far away from the chaos of Elbaph.
And he managed to do so while all these Nightmares were taking place.
But the battle is not over as there are still Domi Reversi Giants and at least one Holy Knight
Zoro’s group is close to defeating the Domi Reversi army, and Chopper arrives to finish off the rest.
Sommers is recovering, and it looks like he doesn’t have a human heart.
An Actual Nightmare
There is something terrifying about these surrounding events, a terror not felt since late into the pre-timeskip era or, more recently, when Imu destroyed Lulusia, particularly the anime version.
In the end of the chapter, Luffy returns to his old tired form because he is out of energy.
In Mary Geoise, Imu informs the Gorosei that Mu will leave the castle for a short time.
Imu is not scared at all.
He is quite calm and in control

One Piece Chapter 1179 will be released on April 6, 2025.
Just in time for the Elbaph anime adaptation to start and that will air around the same time.
