While Rocks transforms, we learn of one massive hint, that Davy Jones was the former King of the World. How will this explain the Will of D, of Joy Boy’s role as the first Pirate and why he lost?
In the previous One Piece chapter, Rocks D. Xebec, together with the future Yonko, Pirate King and Marine hero, join forces to take down Imu but they were unable to stop Imu from turning Xebec into a demon with Domi Reversi.
One Piece Chapter 1164
As he resists Imu’s control, Davy D. Xebec recalls his beliefs, the core of his ambition to become “King of the World” and that is because of a promise.
The promise of a restored lineage.
Because for Xebec, Davy Jones was the former King of the World.
This is quite a massive revelation but as of now, we do not know the implications.
Could this mean that Davy Jones was the original ruler of the Ancient Kingdom before being overthrown by Imu and the Alliance of 20 Kings?
Eventually, Xebec completely transforms into a demon after trying to fight back and easily defeats Big Mom and Kaido, reminding us why he is the captain of the Rocks Pirates.
But moreso that Xebec is even more powerful as a demon than he ever was as a human.
Before a mind-controlled Xebec could reach his wife and son, a young Bartholomew Kuma saves Eris and Teach using his Devil Fruit by sending them away.
His first major save of the series was a future Warlord and the son of the former greatest pirate of the age, just as how Kuma also saved Luffy in the pre-timeskip when he was sorely unprepared for the New World ahead.
Imu orders Xebec to kill everyone on the island.
While resisting Imu’s control, Xebec tells Garp and Roger to kill him.
This seems to be a hint that Xebec might actually be a Buccaneer as implied in Chapter 1160: “The God Valley Incident”.
So now we arrive to that destined moment, to the one remembered in history.
The fabled match: three D’s fight to the death.
