Tsurugi Fights a Shikigami User Like Yuta! Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 4 Spoilers!

Looks like Tsurugi is about to fight a Curse User who is just like grandfather Yuta.

JUJUTSU KAISEN © 2018-2026 by Gege Akutami/SHUEISHA Inc.

In the previous Jujutsu Kaisen chapter, Tsurugi and Maru deal with a man-eating tiger, learning a lesson on coexistence.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 4 is titled, “The Repeating Child”.

This chapter has 19 pages.

Editor’s note: “Information disclosure by Usami! Will the joint missions with the aliens continue!?”

This is the second arc of the Jujutsu Kaisen sequel, as hinted by the previous chapter’s preview for this one and quite fast as the introduction arc was only 3 chapters or half the first volume.

The chapter begins with Usami finally revealing the truth of Maru’s identity to the Okkotsu siblings, except that they already knew since Chapter 1 and have now revealed to Usami, their superior, that they do.

Yuka tells Usami to disclose what he can now that the two of them know about Maru.

Usami explains that it was decided that the two sorcerers were to not to be told that Maru is a special envoy of the Simuria people.

With this out of the way, Usami declares that the three of them will work together on special high school missions

However, to Tsurugi specifically, Usami whispers that as a government official, he cannot get every detail on the Simurians’ plans, so he will count on Tsurugi to get any information about the aliens from Maru.

Maru bows in apology for the secrecy, with Yuka being surprised by yet another similarity with the Japanese, their tendency to bow when apologizing.

Usami does note that he is frustrated to not be able to join the siblings and Maru on their missions, likely due to being a government official.

Due to how few sorcerers there are at any point, it seems that Usami might have been a teacher to the Okkotsu siblings, who was given a position by the Japanese government.

We cut to a little boy named Masaki, who is called repeatedly in class, much to the frustration of the same teacher.

It is explained that this boy has kept repeating the first grade for three years in a row.

Usami says that this could have some connection to sorcery, meaning there is likely an imposter or duplicate.

Mino says that the boy’s height and voice remain the same all those years, which is unusual since there are bound to be changes.

Yuka asks Maru if it could be an alien but Maru says that the Simurians grow just like humans do, so most likely not.

Yuka asks Maru how old he is, to which he explains that in Earth years, he is 19 years old, much to Tsurugi’s annoyance as that makes Maru their senior.

Yuka also thinks she cannot respect Maru as a senior.

We cut to an office employee named Suzuki, who happens to be Masaki’s father, receiving multiple calls about his son.

He also looks just as stressed as the teacher.

It means Masaki’s aim is to make a hundred friends.

We return to Yuka and Maru, with Maru wondering if Masaki even has friends.

We also learn that the student with the same face as last year and the year before, along with their family, disappeared when they moved up to the next grade.

Moreover, the student’s face and address are the same, but their name changes every year.

Mino hypothesizes a Curse User is enrolling every year in disguise.

This could also mean the Curse User kills the previous family he gets into.

Mino also thinks that the Curse User is after family-oriented rental properties but the landlord is seemingly absent.

The Curse User might be doing all this: being the same kid for 3 years and killing the disguise’s previous family, without any sane or logical reason.

Meaning that while this mission is considered an investigation, the trio will more than likely confront the Curse User.

Mino remarks that he is no use in combat, which Tsurugi and Yuka agree with.

Like last chapter, this one reinforces everyone’s lack of faith in Mino’s abilities as a Sorcerer.

First, it was his superior Usami and now two kids.

The trio split up as Yuka heads for the Curse User’s house while Maru and Tsurugi head for the school.

While Maru worries about infiltrating a school, Tsurugi says that they will have to fight the Curse User, so they need to protect the kids.

Tsurugi confronts Masaki in an intimidating manner but the child runs away, as one would normally do when seeing a scary stranger.

However, Tsurugi sees no problem with his tough approach as even if the Curse User was an adult, he would still be running with child legs.

Indeed, the boy stops on his tracks as he sees a large shadowy figure come upon him.

It is a shikigami that has pins on its head and wears a roll of wires or thread

Tsurugi worries that Maru will use a cursed technique as they want to avoid any incidents during this observation period.

Oh, there will be if we want a story.

He recalls Usami’s words, that humans are losing initiative against the aliens, that Maru is sent as a litmus paper to test human nature.

Before any chaos would take place, Masaki apologizes to the two, explaining his backstory.

Three years ago after he came home, his mother collapsed and when it was time for him to become second grade, Masaki asked his mother to stay him stay in the first grade, so his mother, who had turned into a ghost after her death, kept him in the first grade, like some sort of curse.

Tsurugi sees this story as being similar to his grandfather Yuta Okkotsu, who turned his deceased childhood friend Rika into a Cursed Spirit.

He then asks for the boy’s real name, which is Masayoshi.

Tsurugi then asks the boy to guide the two to his house to confirm something.

Meanwhile, Yuka and Mino do reach the house, which feels off for the two.

The pair dig up the front yard and uncover something.

On Tsurugi’s side, they seem to have found the corpse belonging to Masayoshi’s mother.

It would make sense for the child to hide the body in the house since he would not be strong enough to do it all alone.

The boy asks where he will go since he has no family.

Tsurugi suggests letting him join Jujutsu High to train his use of Cursed Energy but Maru knows it is not that simple as Masayoshi will never have his home back again now that he is all alone.

Seemingly relating to the boy’s circumstances, Maru says that since Masayoshi has lost his home, which is full of memories, he will never be able to fill the void of his empty life until he becomes someone’s friend.

Masayoshi asks what does a friend exactly mean.

Maru says that friends are companions who understand why the things you cherish matter.

Maru offers to be Masayoshi’s friend.

Yuka contacts Tsurugi, asking where he is and Tsurugi throws the same back to his sister.

The two state they are both in Masaki’s house but they are actually in different places.

Yuka reveals that there are five corpses in the yard, which means this was meant to be a trap for Sorcerers.

So Yuka tells her brother that when he makes contact with Masaki, he would have to restrain him immediately, no questions asked.

Suddenly, Masayoshi throws Maru away and the chapter ends as Masayoshi strips off his flesh mask and asks Tsurugi if he has any friends.

Editor’s note- “A sense of evil under a mask! It’s attacking!!!”
