The Funniest Final Battle in Shonen History! Sakamoto Days Chapter 278 Spoilers!

With each fighter playing dirty and Sakamoto’s daily life actually being a buff for his creativity as a fighter, the final battle turns into a festival of comedy where Yuto Suzuki’s brilliant choreography matches with his delightful mood.

SAKAMOTO DAYS © 2020-2026 by Yuto Suzuki/SHUEISHA Inc.

In the previous Sakamoto Days chapter, Sakamoto is powered up for the final battle thanks to the good news from his wife that he is about to have a second child.

Day 278 is titled, “What Lies Ahead”

This chapter has 19 pages.

After Sakamoto speaks to his wife Aoi, smiling with what Kippei calls a creepy smile, Uzuki sneaks up with a street sign but Sakamoto cuts the pole with a baby products store card, which represents Sakamoto’s happiness to raise an infant again and how he plans to buy some baby supplies after the fight.

This gives Sakamoto the opening to punch Uzuki towards a nearby building, which happens to be a supermarket.

Inside, both Sakamoto and Uzuki pick up umbrellas.

Umbrella vs umbrella action.

However, with the umbrella handle, Sakamoto snatches Uzuki’s umbrella off.

Sneaking from behind, Sakamoto remarks that he learned his next move in school and uses the umbrella handle to grab Uzuki’s crotch, which makes for a funny scene because he is crying right now from the pain every man feels.

From the toy section, Sakamoto-Uzuki grabs a kendama to throw its attached ball against Sakamoto.

Recalling how he bought a kendama for Hana as well, Sakamoto grabs his own kendama to catch the ball, saying one uses their knees.

This leads to Uzuki throwing some origami papers that Sakamoto folds into paper shuriken that pierce Uzuki’s shoulder.

Boiled notes that when Uzuki-Sakamoto uses origami as a weapon, he attacks by taking advantage of paper’s ability to be cut and folded but the current Sakamoto knows about origami so he can fold a shuriken behind his back, showing that his ordinary life outside assassin work has actually buffed him if anything.

That is because origami is part of an evolution, where rather than using paper itself as a sharp blade, paper can become anything, just like how Sakamoto turns anything in his surroundings into a dangerous weapon.

Torres appears next to Boiled, reaffirming Boiled’s point that Sakamoto understands things more deeply than killers do.

Again, when Sakamoto was in the JCC, he was an empty assassin who had no idea what an ordinary life was and so killing became second nature, no thought put into it, but once he became an ordinary person, everything had meaning.

Anything could become a weapon and so much more.

This goes beyond Sakamoto’s initial “environmental utilization combat techniques” in his Prime, which Uzuki followed.

Torres is now fully with Sakamoto after he made the bet with him in Chapter 242: “A Young Girl’s Memory”

Sakamoto punches a hole on the box and it releases a massive blast of air that throws Uzuki out of the building.

The chapter ends with Sakamoto realizing the store had no baby supplies, only toys for children.

There are about 8 chapters to go for a final Volume 31.

A lot could happen.

After this goofy showing, we could see Sakamoto wounded or losing or another chapter of Uzuki revealing another unique trick.

Perhaps Uzuki will be stopped and maybe two chapters are dedicated to Uzuki’s reform as a person and the proper peaceful ending will be more than a chapter long.

Who knows what can happen at this point?

Sakamoto Days Chapter 279 will be released on October 19, 2026.
