SHANKS FREED FISHER TIGER!! One Piece Chapter 1167 Early Spoilers!

In the previous One Piece chapter, we witnessed the death of Rocks D. Xebec after being finished off by Figarland Garling, how Garp became known as Hero of the Marines and the beginnings of Dragon’s Freedom Fighting.

One Piece Chapter 1167 is titled, “Ida’s Sons”

Holy Knight Ranks

In this chapter, we see that Harald has officially worked for the World Government as part of his compromise last chapter, essentially submitting to them to prevent the world from viewing all Giants as barbarians.

Indeed, he has taken up Bartholomew Kuma’s mantle, following the World Government in exchange for a greater purpose, except it is not for his children but a higher goal: world peace.

By defeating other pirates, he gained a reputation as a “monster in the mist” and sorry to everyone but this has nothing to do with the Florian Triangle giant monsters.

Just as how Kuma became known as “The Tyrant”, which was due to propaganda from the former king of Sorbet, Bekori.

We also learn the reason why the Holy Knights of God knew Harald so well, he was one.

Since he recently joined the organization, he had the rank of God’s Blade, like Gunko.

Each rank has a distinct seal or tattoo.

It appears that Elder could be the highest rank, followed by Holy Knight and the God’s Blade.

These three ranks are the only ones “chosen” for the Abyss ability, which allows Imu’s chosen ones to teleport to anywhere that is marked with an Abyss pentagram, which in turn requires an Abyss chosen one to plant.

This is how the World Government has unrestricted access to Elbaph, specifically Aurust Castle.

Harald, or perhaps his assassins later on, had access to the place.

Shanks and Fisher Tiger

We skip a lot of time to 15 years ago.

We finally learn who freed Fisher Tiger: Shanks, and this set off the burning of Mary Geoise, leading to the liberation of many slaves, including the Gorgon Sisters led by Boa Hancock.

Without Shanks’ intervention, Boa Hancock and her sisters, the Sun and Fishman Pirates and Straw Hat’s helmsman Jinbe would not have gone on their journeys as we saw them in the series and is yet another indrect way Shanks has helped Luffy along his Pirate King path.

It seems this was being kept secret for so long or otherwise even Arlong would owe a debt of gratitude to a human like Shanks.

This seems to be the one and only visit to Mary Geoise Shanks undertook and based on his arrival to Elbaph a year later in Chapter 1152: “A Horrible Day”, it was indeed quite a recent visit.

Shanks is also confirmed a God’s Blade, hence why it looked different from Sommers’, who was a full-fledged Holy Knight, but would still qualify as an Abyss Mark.

It is here that Shanks met his fellow God’s Blade, Harald.

Notably, Shanks here has an eyepatch to cover his left eye, likely to hide his true identity.

That is because by this point, he already has the scars given to him by Blackbeard and we still do not know how or when exactly that happened.

Perhaps this really was Roger’s revealed secret, of Shanks’ origins as a son of a Celestial Dragon.

It is likely here that Shanks received the tattoo as a means of getting deeper into Mary Geoise.

Apparently, he had stayed in Mary Geoise for a while to gather intel on the World Government.

Considering the possibility of other secrets Roger could have revealed, like the shadow monster he and Garp fought, it is possible Shanks might have needed to stay longer than just one short visit.

He likely had to avoid choosing to reject his father Garling’s inheritance and let himself live with the repulsive Celestial Dragons for the sake of a higher cause.

As to what the greater plan Shanks had it is unclear but judging from the timing and how he stole the Nika fruit, it could be the fulfillment of what Roger failed to do, reaching the One Piece on time, since he barely had any time with his illness.

Ida’s Sons

By this point, Loki would be 47 years old, meaning he was close to becoming 16 years old in human years.

Ida is poisoned by someone from Estrid’s hometown, likely out of spite since Ida was Harald’s first love.

Ida’s death enraged Loki and it leads to him destroying a village on Elbaph, declaring that Ida was his only mother, showing that over the years, Loki actually developed a strong love for his stepmother because of the love she gave him, a love Loki’s biological mother Estrid never gave.

It seems so far Loki’s actions do not make him a villain but a broken, sad, lonely child who had lost the means to love yet when that love (his new mother Ida) was taken from him, he would take out his fury on the rest of Elbaph that have chosen to neglect and vilify him all his life.
