In the previous Sakamoto Days chapter, Tenkyu finally uncovers his hidden left eye, which gives him telescopic vision.

Day 194 is titled, “Quick Perception”.

This chapter has 19 pages.

We begin from where we left off as Shin recovers from Tenkyu’s shot but then Tenkyu makes another shot that grazes Shin’s right shoulder.

However, Tenkyu feels sick from using the left eye even for a few minutes.

The implementation of this left eye is both apt and realistic, as it gives Tenkyu a powerful boost at the cost of constant, literal headaches/

Tenkyu charges forward and fires an arrow at point-blank range.

In a panic, Shin tells himself to “move”, which somehow happens as Tenkyu misses and is surprised to see Shin run even with the wounds he sustained.

Shin is surprised that he is able to manipulate himself a second time, confirming that he has already surpassed his original limit.

The explanation is that “by sending electric signals to the brain’s basal ganglia, it allows you to quickly change thoughts and actions”.

This is the basis of telepathy.

The human body can only handle this sort of readjustment directed towards other people once but within you yourself, your body does not resist its own signals, making telepathy more useful on yourself.

This could unlock so much combat potential for Shin and other espers who could realize this power.

Shin punches Tenkyu in the face, causing a tooth to fall off but Tenkyu uses his tooth as an arrow right through Shin’s face.

Although it hurts, Shin manages to withstand it through sheer durability.

Shin notes that no matter how he pushes his body to its limits, he cannot keep up with Tenkyu’s superior movements.

Then he realizes that he does not need to order his body to go beyond its limits, but rather he can order his brain to go at full capacity.

As Tenkyu asks Shin which of them will die in the end, he fires the arrow and Shin attempts to unlock his brain’s full power.

But somehow…

The arrow aimed for his face stays in place and warps.

Shin takes hold of the arrow and charges through Tenkyu, slashing his left eye.

Tears or sweat drip from Shin as he looks over at Tenkyu, holding the arrow close to his throat.

Shin remarks that he is surprised to see Tenkyu cry but Tenkyu seemingly panics, saying that he is “afraid of killing Shin” but it seems he is confused by what exactly he is supposed to say here.

Seeing the scripted cowardice of Tenkyu, Shin expresses how he is no longer the type of person who can be in the Sakamoto Store and prepares to finish him off but someone stops him.

It is Taro Sakamoto.

It seems that Torres and Sakamoto came together to enter the JAA Prison.

The arc has been interesting but after Jo Shackle’ removal, the prison system became irrelevant and only acted as mere backdrop that can be ignored.

Atari has no role other than to provide an explanation for luck but this has nothing to do with how Shin could improve himself, meaning she was not used well for the plot.

Let us see if the coming chapters can improve this otherwise middling arc.

Editor’s note: “A shocking series of battles in the JAA prison! Chaos and murderous intent collide in an all-out battle! SAKAMOTO DAYS”

Sakamoto Days Chapter 195 will be released on December 23, 2024.
