Rin Gets Benched! The True Meaning of Ego Explained! Blue Lock Chapter 350 Spoilers!

For sabotaging Isagi’s goal, Rin gets benched. Will Rin learn from this or darken his path?

BLUE LOCK © 2018 by Kaneshiro Muneyuki and Nomura Yuusuke/KODANSHA.

In the previous Blue Lock chapter, Nagi proceeds to the next phase of Side-B while Jinpachi Ego prepares to lecture Blue Lock about the true meaning of Ego.

Blue Lock Chapter 350 is titled, “Ego”

This chapter has 21 pages, including the color spread.

Editor’s note: “This is it! Challenge the world! Support Japan!!”

To celebrate Blue Lock reaching its 350th chapter.

The spread features Isagi and Hugo on different sides: Isagi standing in front of a yellow, grid-pattern carpet while covering his mouth with his right arm and Hugo tying his right wristband behind a red or velvet background with cog patterns.

The chapter begins with Isagi sitting on the bench, hunched forward, his eyes intense and searching, frustrating with the idea of what exactly ego is after all his time with Blue Lock.

Raichi barked out a confused “Hah?”, but the others genuinely started to consider the question.

Hiori murmurs about it being a vague concept while Bachira has said it is the monster inside all of them, which makes me think he is a fan of Naoki Urasawa.

Chigiri looked down, wiping sweat from his face, remarking that it is something more instinctual, the true self.

Reo believed it was about being selfish, a simple definition, while the rest did not really care about the nuance as long as it was not just about hurting people.

Isagi listened to them all, the gears in his head turning rapidly.

Everyone’s interpretation is different, so he ultimately understands that the solution is to find the right definition to know how to keep fighting.

Out of the entrance, Ego Jinpachi stares down at them, his gaze piercing through the darkness of the room.

Ego defines ego as the “game nature” of a human’s life.

He shows a pentagon diagram representing a person’s existence—their environment, talent, appearance, and mentality.

As social animals, humans gain self-awareness and begin subconsciously interacting with the world, through trial and error between reality and one’s ideals, humans creates a Self.

We see a massive compass labeled EGOISM appeared on the screen and behind Ego are players—Rin, Barou, Shidou, Bachira

Here, Ego asks them about what brings them joy, sadness, beliefs and anger.

Ego says tht the core standard for those judgments dictates how they live the game of their lives, hence Ego.

Isagi now understands, the puzzle pieces fitting together.

His game compass of Ego was the thrill of the rebellion—the game of devouring the Number One.

By sharpening that, he could break through to being the world’s best striker.

Karasu stands up to Ego, saying they lost to France because of Ego’s theory, that by clashing ego, they would win but that was not reality.

Isagi expresses his own doubts too.

For a moment, Ego just stared.

Then, his shoulders began to shake. A low chuckle escaped his lips, quickly escalating into a full-blown, manic laugh.

The players recoiled, unsettled by the raw madness in his voice.

The image of a chained, monstrous striker violently breaking free filled the screen behind him.

Ego shouts at his team, pointing out how they all agreed to this crazy plan and that they are no longer sane, that ultimately there was no safety as this was all an experiment to create the world’s best striker.

He slams his hand on the monitor, breaking the expensive equipment.

He reveals that if they doubt Ego’s madness, they should offset it with their own madness.

The reason Blue Lock lost was not an error in tactics but because out of the 11 people on the pitch, someone did not truly believe they were the best in the world.

Although angry, Ego says that although today is the worst day, there is a silver lining in that they are still in the group stage and there is still another chance, so tomorrow, they shall meet with tomorrow’s madness.

Isagi stands frozen, the weight of Ego’s words crushing him.

He knows he is at fault for making Blue Lock lose because he was too dogmatic on Ego’s instructions and philosophy.

Because Isagi did not trust in his own game compass, his own Ego.

So Isagi chooses to pull himself out but Ego says that even if Blue Lock will be reborn, he will not take Isagi out.

Then comes the bombshell.

“The one being taken out is Rin.”

The silence in the room shattered into heavy disbelief.

Rin sat rigid on the bench.

Sweat dripped down his face as his eyes widened, trembling with a dark, simmering mix of disbelief and pure, venomous rage.

Rin sabotaging the goal in Chapter 347 definitely cost them everything.

The most unexpected name had been called, and a violent new storm was brewing within Blue Lock.
