Shanks THE RAT Ran Away From Imu! One Piece Chapter 1168 Early Spoilers!
The rat allegations are back in One Piece but for a different reason. Why did Shanks choose now to run away?
In the previous One Piece chapter, we learn about the three Covenants with Imu and Shanks’ life as a double agent, serving as a Devoted Blade of God while helping Fisher Tiger free the slaves, as well as how Loki avenged Ida’s poisoning.
One Piece Chapter 1168 is titled, “Elbaph’s Snow”
Due to the poison she got from Alcohol Village, Ida died on a snowy day.
Harold and Hajrudin cried, while Loki suffered in silence while imprisoned for the rampage on the village and all deaths from there.
Yet another MCU Loki parallel.
Although One Piece Loki was not responsible for Ida’s death, both characters do suffer in silence in their cells, mourning the loss of their beloved stepmothers.
We cut to a year later.
14 years ago, Shanks was supposed to receive the Deep Sea Covenant to become a full-fledged Knight of God.
However, the rat decided to run away.
To think he was in a rush to get promoted so why did he choose to flee?
Did he perhaps discover the price of the Covenant involved being possessed by Imu, making him a danger to those he cared for or did he have enough information?
As a result of the Covenant, Harold gained more power and immortality over time.
This means the Deep Sea Covenant, which grants the ability to teleport with Abyss and immortal bodies,takes time to fully take hold and that also includes Imu’s ability to possess someone’s body with it.
Imu ordered Harold to create the Abyss Circle in Elbaph, which the gullible King does not realize was a trap set for him in case of betrayal and also a means to transport the Knights of God to Elbaph to intervene.
This Circle is how Gunko and Shamrock got in without a Knight of God present, since Harald had been dead for 14 years.
After that, Imu instructed Harold to build a Giant Army for the Government.
It seems that Harald’s actual betrayal of Imu could have taken place here, as he had already built a school so that Giants will not become conscripted soldiers in secrecy.
The chapter ends with Loki and Jarul arriving at the castle, meaning the next chapter will show us the events of Harald’s death.
This seems to confirm the possibility that Harald was about to be possessed by Imu at this point.
At the same time, Shanks arrived to pay Harald a visit and converse with him without prying eyes.

One Piece Chapter 1169 will be released on December 22, 2025.
This means Chapter 1170 will be the final chapter of One Piece in 2025, set for December 29th, bringing the chapter total to 35.
