GARP vs ROGER Confirms Who is the Stronger of the Two! One Piece Chapter 1156 Early Spoilers!

Garp might be the physically strongest One Piece character, bringing only his fists to a sword fight against his longtime rival, Gol D. Roger.

ABD x ONE PIECE © 1997 by Eiichiro Oda/SHUEISHA Inc.

In the previous One Piece chapter, we learn of the origins of the Rocks Pirates and how Rocks got so close to the center of the world by meeting Imu, the first pirate so far to do so since Joy Boy.

One Piece Chapter 1156 is titled, “Idols”

Continuing the 28th anniversary trend, the color spread features Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Nami in the front, with Roger, Rayleigh, and Gaban in the back, symbolizing inherited will among those pursuing the One Piece.

The other Straw Hats are smaller and on the side, sitting on Luffy or in his pockets.

Nami being a fourth person could be because Scopper Gaban is the navigator of the Roger Pirates and that their navigation skills are crucial to the hunt.

We are back to around 44 years ago, right where we stopped during the previous chapter.

We learn that the Kuja Pirates are considered idols for people all around the world.

Has Oda, like his fellow mangaka Togashi (Hunter x Hunter) and Akutami (Jujutsu Kaisen), been watching anything related to idols, such as maybe the new K-Pop Demon Hunters on Netflix?

Anyway, Gloriosa was the captain at the time while the 20-year old Shakuyaku was her second-in-command or first mate.

Although beautiful in her own right, Shakuyaku was most favored by the people for her beauty.

Often, the Kuja and Roger Pirates clashed with each other, which led to every one of the Roger Pirates falling in love with Shakuyaku and thus they were not able to fight 100%

Gloriosa was actually in love with Roger himself and thus had Love Sickness like Boa Hancock and pretty much every Kuja Empress after Gloriosa.

However, Roger had his eyes set on Shakuyaku.

Yet Shakuyaku was in love instead with Rayleigh

Wait, then how and when did Roger fall for Portgas D. Rouge, Ace’s mother?

This is quite an interesting revelation.

So, essentially, it is possible that Gloriosa joined Rocks D. Xebec not because he was the cause of her love sickness but to find an opportunity to meet Roger?

And this is also how Rayleigh first met his partner, Shakuyaku and indeed confirmed that she overcame the Love Sickness by living with him.

He was 34 at this time by the way and Shakky would have been 20 years old.

Suddenly, Garp’s ship arrived, so the Kuja Pirates escaped while the Roger Pirates dealt with the Marines.

Could this be the first ever battle between the legendary rivals, Garp and Roger, or one of many?

Here, we see their clash but look carefully. While Roger wields a sword and unleashed Conqueror’s Haki, Garp simply used his fists.

Just his fists were enough to unleash that much Haki, just like Luffy did.

However, keep in mind that even without Haki, Garp’s fists were strong enough to blow through eight mountains before facing Don Chinjao and as a much younger man, he created Battleship Bags as a technique for training, which Kuzan also participated in, resulting in the Admiral also gaining much physical strength but never on the same level as his mentor.

Loki planned to join the Rocks Pirates the next time they return to Elbaph.

In Hachinosu, we see the Rocks Pirates with new crew members like Big Mom, Kaido, Silver Axe, and John.

Wait, is Streusen not a member?

Rocks told all of them that Elbaph is very important to destroy the Holy Land.

Rocks also explained his plan at the end of the chapter.

First, he needed two legendary Devil Fruits, and one of them was in Elbaph.

The first one is obviously the Yami Yami no Mi but what secrets could it have?

In Chapter 1136:  “The Land That Awaits The Sun”, the Giants are conflicted on whether Nika is a destroyer or liberator.

What if both sides coexist?

What if the Devil Fruit was either split in two or that there were two Warriors, one of Destruction, one of Liberation?

Maybe the original Nika was not simply the Sun God but also the God of Light and Darkness and somehow, whether through the creation of Devil Fruits or whatever happened in the First World, his soul was split into two: one with the desire to destroy the world and the other with the desire to free it.

This seems to confirm that the legendary Devil Fruit on Elbaph was the Hito Hito no Mi: Model Nika fruit, now known as the Gomu Gomu no Mi.

Second, Rocks also needed to find the Galley-La Giants, possibly to build a replica of Pluton.

An Ancient Weapon and the Devil Fruits of the Sun and Darkness together.

This sounds just like Blackbeard’s plan.

Blackbeard acquired Whitebeard’s Gura Gura no Mi, which he called “light” and then obtained his father Rocks’ Yami Yami no Mi.

The next question is: will the next chapter reveal the God Valley Incident at long last?

Jump is on BREAK NEXT WEEK due to a holiday for the magazine.

One Piece will be returning with Chapter 1157 on August 18, 2025.
