New One Piece Chapter 1072 Leaks Reveal Zoro Vs Awakened Kaku & Vegapunk’s biggest secret yet!

The spoilers for One Piece chapter 1072 are out, and it hints towards Vegapunk’s backstory and a big fight between Zoro and Awakened Kaku!

Vegapunk Flashback:

The chapter starts with a flashback where Vegapunk explains that Kuma’s power turns intangible things into tangible things, like he did with Luffy’s “pain” in Thriller Bark.

Turns out that Kuma’s power can materialize signals sent from the nervous system, such as pain, thoughts and even memories. Vegapunk takes a special interest in this as he wanted to materialize Kuma’s own memories so he can figure out their weight.

In One Piece Memories are at the essence of what being alive is. People Don’t die when killed, only their physical self ceases to exist. However, their memories and will can be inherited by another which keeps them alive.  This is Blatantly stated by Hiruluk’s famous quote

“When do you think people die? When they are shot through the heart by the bullet of a pistol? No. When they are ravaged by an incurable disease? No. When they drink a soup made from a poisonous mushroom!? No! It’s when… they are forgotten.”

So if Vegapunk can measure a person’s memories that would in a sense tell you the worth of a soul or person. An experiment similar to this was actually conducted IRL in 1907 by Duncan MacDougall, a physician from Haverhill, Massachusetts. MacDougall hypothesized that souls have physical weight, and attempted to measure the mass lost by a human when the soul departed the body. MacDougall attempted to measure the mass change of six patients at the moment of death. One of the six subjects lost three-quarters of an ounce (21.3 grams).

Maybe this missing memory piece is what Vegapunk is missing in understanding the true nature of devil fruits and replicating not only zoans but paramecia and even Logias.

ZORO VS AWAKENED KAKU:

Now previously we saw the round 2 of GEAR 5 Nika Luffy vs Awakened Rob Lucci, but now in this chapter we will witness round 2 of Zoro vs Awakened Kaku. Don’t too excited though because… our boy Zoro defeated this CP0 Agent in no time, He didn’t even need to use Advanced Conqueror’s Haki.

However, one very interesting piece of information we do learn is that Stussy of the CP0 is a clone of the former Rocks Pirates member Miss Buckingham Stussy.
