In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, we meet the brother of the first Cloud Gorger user, Natsuki Misaka.

Kagurabachi Chapter 90 is titled, “Kiri-Chan”

The chapter begins with Yura holding off Uruha and telling Jeanist to call on Hokuto.

Meanwhile, Kiri asks the dual sword wielding girl when she began to be under the rule of the Hishaku but the girl says that they just simply agree with each other since 18 years ago.

The girl prepares to attack but Kuri immediately anticipates it since she knows her.

Hakuri warns Kuri-san about the attack as he saw the pose as being similar to the one used to kill Kudo.

Kiri corrects Hakuri, telling him to call her “Kiri-chan”.

Hakuri attempts to reach the Shinuchi’s chamber but a Mako, a monster summoned by one of the Hishaku sorcerers, prepare to chomp on him but Kiri cuts it down by pointing the sword at Hakuri’s shoulder.

The sword is called the “Goshaku Ōdachi – ‘Oni-Chika’ or the “Five-Shaku Long Sword – ‘Demon Pool Petal’

The narrator explains that Kiri also has a second nickname, “Oni-Chan”. A long sword that measures approx. 2 meters in length including its handle, has a lot of drawbacks.

Due to its length, it is difficult to battle with, especially in narrow spaces or close combat.

Due to its weight, it lacks mobility which makes it difficult to perform continuous attacks or respond to agile enemies.

Hakuri asks the woman why she would use such a big sword but Kiri says that she finds big things to be cute and since her grandfather said that swords are too heavy for a woman’s slender arms, she wants to make Itsuo Shirakai eat his words.

The narrator then says that the reason of her mastery lies in the sword handling.

If the pivot point of your attack is at the hilt, then the previously mentioned weakness will  be a problem.

She doesn’t wield the sword—She lets the sword take the lead… and dances with it.

We see this demonstrate as while she does hold the sword, she also lets it glide through her body, letting the sword dictate the flow and thus avoid hurting herself.

This allows her to cut down the approaching Mako with ease and the dual-wielding girl is shocked to see no opening for an attack.

Uruha, meanwhile, looks at Kiri, recalling how the younger girl wished to destroy of all Iai users herself, making Uruha nervous as he wonders if he is included in that category.

Yura asks Uruha if he was distracted and kicks him away

Some marks flow around him as he exclaims that his body feels heavy.

Yura explains that this is the punishment for cutting a lucky charm.

As it turns out, cutting the Mako, which both Uruha and Kiri have done, was a mistake as it resulted in their bodies feeling heavy and Kiri remarks that the girl was waiting until Kiri is worn down.

This is similar to a character in Bleach, Izuru Kira’s Zanpakuto, Wabisuke, which causes things to feel heavier with each cut.

Surrounded by more Mako, Kiri grabs Hakuri by the hair and sends him down a secret hole hidden by the floor tiles while Kiri is trapped by the Mako as Hakuri watches on before even moving forward.

Now the Kamunabi traitor sees her chance to go for the neck but Kiri grabs her arm with a tight grip, saying she is used to fast movement.

So Kiri turns around and lets the Mako pile on top of each other, crushing the traitor beneath them while Kiri sticks her sword on the Mako like a barbeque skewer.

The chapter ends with Hokuto arriving, leaning his right arm on Hakuri’s shoulder as he asks where Uruha was.

Kagurabachi Chapter 91 will be released on August 25, 2025.
