In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, we finally meet Chihiro’s mother.

2 years before the birth of Chihiro Rokuhira.

The narrator explains that the Soga Clan’s Prophecy, like many foresight powers in any fiction, only sees the future in fragments and even if the user knows “when” and “where” the vision happens, they cannot know the resulting “physical damages”, such as the number of fatalities that might occur. 

Narration: Such prophecies can still allow the parties of interest to avoid certain “results”..

Ever since the appearance of Shokoku, their identities have remained a mystery, even when interacting with the locals of Irishima.

We see a man in a wheelchair who lost both legs, one of the escorts for the soldiers the Sorcery Bureau sent to investigate and the first to arrive on Irishima when the island emerged.

The man was one of the few fighters and so was able to directly engage in combat with them yet the Shokoku did not talk.

However, the man could see it in their eyes, that they were fellow Japanese.

How could there be an island hiding Japanese people in the bottom of the sea?

From Hasumi’s conversation with a scholar, we hear a tale: of a fight between Jikishin Soga and the Mikaboshi through a Japanese painting of a warrior and a monster with long hair, emitting black smoke from its mouth and centipedes surrounding him.

The Mikaboshi is a minor Japanese deity, specifically the Amatsu-Mikaboshi or the “August Star of Heaven”, a god of stars or a god of evil who is slain by Futsunushi-no-Kami and Takemikazuchi-no-Kami, amatsukami or the heavenly gods that included Amaterasu, the children of Izanagi and Izanami.

Essentially, the Mikaboshi is always presented as evil, such that there is a Marvel Comic book character of the same name that reigned over the primordial darkness of Earth and was an archenemy of Hercules and the Avenger Thor.

The Mikaboshi resembles Akemura in the future due to his use of Centipede and unleashed a black smoke via the Enchanted Blade Magatsumi.

In the story, the Mikaboshi were an ancient clan from the Heian Era.

Oh hello Jujutsu Kaisen.

Anyway, a 1,000 years ago, the Mikaboshi were defeated by the Soga Clan and it is because of this battle that Sorcery was hidden away.

It is often said that the Mikaboshi were last seen in Chiba where they got cornered and met total annihilation. 

This was on the southeastern side of Japan.

It seems that the Mikaboshi survived, hid in Shokoku and emerged after a thousand years.

The survivor brings up how strong the Mikaboshi were.

They seem to be able to control insects.

The scholar talks about the theories regarding the Mikaboshi.

That they were 2 meter tall giants or that their skin was entirely black.

The most prevalent theory is that the Mikaboshi are a sorcery clan that control and rule over insects. 

Hasumi wonders how the Mikaboshi were able to hide away and reconstruct their civilization underwater and thinks that they were superhuman.

The scientist confirms that the Datenseki is in Shokoku as well.

As the Datenseki was found on the ore vein of Irishima, it is something around the 80 kilogram mark. 

But when calculating the total Datenseki present in the Shokoku Kingdom, it reached at least 1,000 kilograms or a ton.

This means the Shokoku have 12 times more Datenseki than Japan has.

The theory the scientist has is that the Shokoku are Mikaboshi descendants used Datenseki’s irregularities on their bodies to create their own civilization.

Essentially, the Datenseki mutated their bodies.

Conference Arrangement Time: 12:00PM.

The Japanese Delegation Team, accompanied by a single escort vessel, land on Irishima Island. 

Hasumi knows there will be an ambush or show of force but the conference is the first resort, otherwise there would be a bloody battle.

The Shokoku have a long monopoly over the Datenseki yet due to tectonic shifts, that resource has reached Japanese territory.

The scientist wonders if it is because the Datenseki is sacred but either way, a clan that has been pushed back has now returned with full force, wielding immense power.

This conversation on the Mikaboshi myth is happening at the same time as the conference.

Suddenly, the ship explodes.

From the water emerges a strange floating creature or device still hovering as five Shokoku figures appear.

The bodyguards are led by an elder floating on his seat and a man whose bangs cover his eyes.

The leader is a fair-looking young man with cracks around his eyes and black nails, wearing the same uniform as his bodyguards, a black coat with a right-shoulder epaulette

The leader has already been seated while all the Japanese guards except one envoy are dead and this envoy is who the leader is speaking to.

The leader tells the survivor to calm himself and take a deep breath.

The Shokoku’s demands are:

1. The Transfer of Irishima as a land mass, and the return of all its Datenseki that was previously taken.
2. In addition, the cession of lands in Chiba, Kanagawa and Tokyo, as areas that can be seen as proper land for the Datenseki Ore Veins to grow in for the following thousand years.

The envoy is horrified by the excessive demand for land.

But the Shokoku leader insists that these demands be met since the envoy has seen what the Shokoku are capable of and that if the Japanese refuse, it will be all-out war.

The Spiritual-energy powered Battleship “Haruma” that was destroyed held in it four people: Hiroto Soga, Tougo Shiba, Yoshinojou Soga and Shuji Mashiro. 

That ship was considered the smallest possible unit to be recommended for such a mission by the Sorcery Bureau, and the strongest in Japan.

Negotiations broke down due to the pre-emptive strikes made by the Shokoku. 

The four Soga warriors, including Shiba and Mashiro, aura-farm while surrounding the Shokoku representative and his guards.

This leads to a battle between the Soga and the Mikaboshi after 1000 years!
