Gountess is Saved by the Woman He Loves! Gachiakuta Chapter 168 Spoilers!
A surprisingly happy ending for Gountess, whose 20 years of enslavement, have been washed away by having his life restored by the woman he sacrificed his own for.
In the previous Gachiakuta chapter, Enjin and Rudo take down Mymo for good!
The end of the Doll Festival Arc has arrived, after 37 chapters and 15 months.
Gachiakuta Chapter 168 is titled, “The Curtain Closes”
This chapter has 17 pages.
The chapter begins with Gountess finally and properly introducing himself to Rudo.
Rudo asks if he killed a human life, to which Gountess says that it is unclear if Mymo died “as a man” but Gountess is grateful for Rudo for stopping him.
Rudo recalls Mymo’s words from Chapter 160: “Opening”, about the man who really killed his adopted father Regto.
Realizing how Mymo used words to try and kill Rudo, Rudo says that it was Gountess’ words that stopped Mymo.
Gountess sees that Rudo did not end Mymo but wonders if it could be the recoil of the Watchman Series or someone else.
Gountess asks Rudo to pick up Connect and says that it belongs to Rudo now as he was only holding onto it for the Surebrec family.
Gountess promised to share what he knew of Alto but admits there is no time and that he does not know much in spite of his connection via the Chokers he makes, so he tells Rudo to look for the information broker Kuro.
Suddenly, there is a beeping sound.
Mymo has set Gountess’ artificial heart to explode in the event of the former’s death.
Gountess accepts his death, saying that it is the price for stopping him and at least Too Lily will be safe.
As Rudo witnesses Gountess explode, we see Gountess seemingly sitting on his old house, in his hometown.
Too Lily appears before him, explaining that because Gountess gave her a home, she felt like she could do anything for him.
This thought gave rise to her powers and a heavy chain.
“You must never use your powers to cause harm”.
This restriction prevented Lily from trying to save Gountess from Mymo.
While Gountess’ wish was for Lily’s safety at his cost, Lily wished to live with Gountess.
Gountess thinks this is all an illusion as the only way to stop the explosion would be to remove his heart, which would kill him anyway.
Lily says that knowledge is a wonderful thing and it kept her alive, which is why she chose the path of ignorance.
By being ignorant, it was possible for Gountess to be separated from the explosion while keeping his artificial heart intact and even brought him back to his old hometown.
Their powers work as opposites of each other.
The more ignorant Too Lily is, the more powerful she becomes while the more knowledge Gountess gains via his Chokers, the stronger he becomes.
Too Lily chose to avoid getting involved with Gountess, who was in constant danger and lived for years as Mymo’s slave, explicitly for the day her abilities will save his life after Mymo is gone.
Sheeding her outfit, Too Lily takes Gountess’ hand and the explosion seemingly does nothing, as Gountess later reflects on how the explosion in the real world would be a breach of Lily’s powers, causing someone, i.e. Rudo, harm but Lily’s powers would also negate that possibility as she says:
“You’re alive! Who would be harmed by that?”
The last line is so powerful for Gountess, overcoming his existential guilt over his role not only in his grandparents’ deaths but also all the suffering involved with the production of Chokers and Mymo’s schemes.
He no longer felt like the accessory everyone wore but someone who was loved.
This felt like the right ending for both characters and the conclusion of the Doll Festival Arc.
Gachiakuta Chapter 169 might be released on June 10, 2026.
