Azuma is not Human? Choujin X Chapter 59.1 Spoilers!!
Choujin X deepens the mystery behind one of its protagonists by revealing the truth on the other side of the tunnel.
In the previous Choujin X chapter, Azuma assumes a new form to incinerate the seemingly immortal Bador Vlad with a massive gun
After a one month break from Choujin X, Sui Ishida returns to draw the series.
Chapter 59.1 is titled, “Because”
This chapter has 23 pages.
The title is could mean anything, like “from” or “after” but because seems to be the appropriate rendering.
The chapter cover shows Azuma standing on a rock as a prisoner in chains.
You can tie various metaphors to this but its all linked to Azuma’s self-perception.
The chapter begins with BB and the other Yamato Mori Keepers shocked to see Azuma’s new form, which resembles Queem.
Ever since Chapter 21: “A Cloaker”, which could very well be when Azuma awakened as a Choujin, we have seen so many connections between Azuma and Queem.
Perhaps through Azuma, we could understand Queem and thus the path the story would take.
Ishida has confirmed that we are still halfway into the arc.
However, even after Azuma’s nuclear blast, Vlad is still alive, rising in an even more monstrous form.
Under the hood of Azuma’s new Cloaker form, we see the cyclopic Azuma bear a smile full of teeth as he goes after and tries to maim and devour the monstrous Vlad.
It is clear now that Azuma has Chaosified and if he keeps up this form, he will lose his humanity and bring about disaster.
Maybe this is the Calamity happening, the Chaosified Iron Choujin rampaging or if many Choujin Chaosified.
As Azuma’s body is fighting Vlad, in his mind, he sees himself a prisoner wearing a prison uniform while his hands are shackled.
Azuma is sitting on a chair in the middle of nowhere.
He looks at his headless self from the last chapter, who points to a vision of many massive hands and his head whispers “how nostalgic”, which confuses Azuma.
How is such a horrific sight “nostalgic”
Hovering around the hands are “X” symbols.
As it turns out, this is the sight that Azuma saw on the other side of the tunnel.
However, Azuma recalled that going out at night to get to the tunnel was something his family would not have permitted but then he recalled exactly what was going on at home.
The whole time, it was empty.
He had no one.
He cannot remember his family because they never even existed.
As Azuma tries to reach out beyond his post, in the real world, the Chaosified Azuma begins producing a massive steel ball linked to his chain to thrash the surrounding structures within the Tower of Mourning but this fails to destroy Vlad, who quickly regenerates.
Azuma produces several chains to slice Vlad up into tiny chunks.
In his mind, Azuma finally sees what is going on and is surprised by al this because “this is not his power”
The chapter ends as the headless figure finally speaks and tells Azuma…
He is not human.
