Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 Announced
Wistoria: Wand and Sword’s second season sees a less involved Yoshihara yet the anime will maintain its high standard of quality production.
On September 9, 2025, it was announced that Wistoria: Wind and Sword Season 2 will air on April 2026, with a key visual and trailer to tease the fans.
This will continue where Season 1, released on July 7, 2024, left off with Chapter 21 out of its 53 chapters at present, which will likely mean that Season 2 will reach up to Volume 12 (Chapter 45-48).
Staff:
Chief Director: Tatsuya Yoshihara (Black Clover, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc)
Director: Hideaki Nakano
Character Design and Chief Animation Director: Sayaka Ono (BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy)
Music: Yuki Hayashi (Sakamoto Days, My Hero Academia)
Animation Production: Actas × Bandai Namco Pictures
Most of the core staff return to the series.
Yoshihara steps out of the series director seat to be chief director, which could indicate his priorities.
Yoshihara is currently involved in MAPPA’s Seshimo production line projects: Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3.
While he has directed the Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc Movie, he may likely be involved with Chainsaw Man Season 2.
In his place, Hideaki Nakano, who is episode director of Episodes 6 and 12, will be taking over.
Nakano has directed multiple series as series director such as Aoharu x Machinegun (2015), Devils’ Line (2018), Saiyuki Reload Blast (2017), Servamp (2016), and most famously, the second film, Hunter x Hunter: The Last Mission (2013), meaning we have a competent substitute for Yoshihara’s direct involvement.
Sayaka Ono returns to handle the same roles and has done similar work for BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy.
Yuki Hayashi continues to dominate the anime music scene of 2025, having already done work for My Hero Academia like usual and the ongoing Sakamoto Days adaptation.
Bandai Namco Pictures is a spinoff of Sunrise, which is founded by Bandai Namco Filmworks, and has continued
Sunrise itself is most famous for the Gundam franchise, Cowboy Bebop, the Inuyasha adaptation and Code Geass, among many other works.
Meanwhile, Actas is a Bandai subsidiary, similar to 8bit (Blue Lock), founded in 1988, known for the Shin Megami Tensei anime adaptations.
