On December 3, 2024, the official One Piece store has shared two new illustrations from WIT Studio’s upcoming remake.

This hints towards more details to be revealed during Jump Festa 2026 on December 20–21, 2025.

The first image shows the aftermath of Luffy defeating some enemies and judging from the town setting, this could be Orange Town and Buggy’s crew that have taken over the place.

The second image has Luffy wind up a Gomu Gomu no Pistol, likely against Alvida or even the Lord of the Coast in Romance Dawn.

The remake, titled “The One Piece”, was first announced on December 17, 2023 during Jump Festa 2024.

Produced by WIT Studio (Attack on Titan Season 1-3, Vinland Saga Season 1, Spy x Family) for Netflix, the project aims to create a better paced, more focused version of the One Piece story.

This is done by condensing the 100-episode East Blue Saga into much fewer episodes, primarily by removing fluff and fillers, updating the outdated 4:3 aspect ratio format while remaining faithful to the original manga’s art.

WIT Studio President George Wada stated that the One Piece remake is part of a larger strategy to promote Japanese manga to a wider global audience, making it more accessible to new viewers by updating the visuals and fixing pacing issues of the original anime.

The goal is to overcome new audience hesitation caused by the original’s length and older 4:3 format and since it has been 26 years since the original anime, this was a good opportunity to bring a new generation of fans to experience One Piece live.
