On Friday, ICv2 reported that Viz Media is going to raise its manga prices from US$9.99 per volume to US$11.9 per volume from January 2024.

The price hike will reflect on ongoing and new series published by Viz (not all manga series are priced at US$9.99, Golden Kamui volumes are priced at US$12.99 per volume for example).

E-commerce websites like Amazon and Barnes & Noble are listing new volumes of manga slated for English post-January 1, 2024 with the updated price.

According to ICv2, Viz Media’s new pricing will remain within a similar price range as other English-language manga publishers.

For instance, single volumes of manga from Kodansha USA Publishing are priced at US$12.99, Yen Press offers them at US$13.00, and Seven Seas Entertainment’s range is from US$12.99 to US$14.99.

In 2009, Viz Media increased the prices of Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat manga volumes from their previous rates of US$7.99 and US$8.99, respectively, to the new price of US$9.99.

Viz Media launched Viz Manga, a digital manga service. The app now includes simultaneous English releases of ongoing manga from Shogakukan for “the first time” and classic manga titles.

In 2009, Viz Media increased the prices of Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat manga volumes from their previous rates of US$7.99 and US$8.99, respectively, to the new price of US$9.99.

Viz manga is only available in the United States and Canada. The subscription costs US$1.99/month.
