The Boy and the Heron Anime’s 4K, Blu-Ray To Debut In North America In July

The Boy and the Heron by Hayao Miyazaki will soon be available in 4K on home video, marking the official debut of Studio Ghibli films in this format.
On July 9, 2024, the esteemed director’s most recent picture will be available through GKIDS and Shout! Studios in a number of bundles, including as 4K UHD + Blu-ray, Blu-ray + DVD, and a limited edition Steelbook that comes with both the 4K and Blu-ray discs.

Pre-orders for The Boy and the Heron are currently open, and copies are available via the Crunchyroll Store (Blu-ray + DVD, 4K + Blu-ray, Steelbook).
The EVANGELION:3.0+1.11 THRICE UPON A TIME limited edition Steelbook, which is available for pre-order ahead of a July 2 debut, is another addition to the most recent GKIDS home video arrivals.
The Boy and the Heron made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, its U.S. premiere at the New York Film Festival on October 29, and its wide release on December 8 before being first seen in Japanese theatres on July 14, 2023.
On March 20, the movie went countrywide once more in Japan, and on March 22, it opened in theatres across North America.
The movie won Best Animated Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards on March 11, Best Animation of the Year at the 47th Japan Academy Film Prize Awards on March 8, Best Animated Film at the British Academy Film Awards on February 18, and Golden Globe for Best Animated Film on January 7, among other awards.
