According to a recent leak, Takehiko Inoue will resume his manga Real Weekly Young Jump issue 39/2023 on August 24, 2023.

Takehiko’s manga will get a special cover illustration for the Young Jump’s issue 39/2023. It is a rare case, as the magazine usually has gravure covers.

Takehiko Inoue is famous for his fabulous work on Vagabond and Slam Dunk manga.

Slam Dunk has been adapted into anime and inspired a movie titled The First Slam Dunk.

The movie was released in December 2022 and had earned 105.3 million USD as of July 23.

The film also won the Axis: Satoshi Kon Award for Excellence in Animation for best-animated feature film at the 27th annual Fantasia International Film Festival on July 30.

Takehiko serialized Real in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine in October 1999.

The manga has been on hiatus since late 2014. Viz Media publishes the manga in English and published the manga’s 14th volume in English in March 2016.

In 2001, the manga won an Excellence Award at the 5th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards.

Viz Media described the manga as:

A motorcycle accident, bone cancer, a speeding truck crashing into a boy on a stolen bicycle—tragic life-changing events turn the worlds of three young men upside down.

These three very different personalities have only one thing in common — their passion for basketball.
